There is not much detection in this book. Not much action, adventure of suspense either. Nothing much happens at all in the first 11 hours of this nearly 12 hour book. This entire story can be wrapped up quickly.
Kinsey is hired to watch after an ex-con and make sure she goes to parole meetings. Kinsey meets a new guy in her life once again. He has some sort of implausible plan for the ex-con to catch her former boss at money laundering. The ex-con does everything possible to screw up said plan. Everything works out.
All this without a shred of tension, suspense or anything at all interesting happening in the book. The only murder of interest in this book is the possibility of the reader dying of boredom.

Avoid at all costs. Sue Grafton no longer cares about this series or its characters and it shows in ever single scene in the book.

This is a nice way to start if you are interested in astronomy. This is not a book for someone looking for deep technical science. This is simply a nice overview for those of us with a general interest in science and astronomy. There has been another book published recently that I also recommend, A Short History of Nearly Everything by Bill Bryson. It also tries to boil down complex science into something the casual reader can understand.

I?m sure since Kenneth Davis wrote this book some people will try to accuse him of putting a liberal spin on the Universe. Ignore people like that who learn everything they know from Rush Limbaugh and read interesting books like this for yourself.

First of all anyone that dismisses the information in this book as "liberal" is purely and simply a liar. The book is well researched and all sources are well documented in the text version. The purpose of this book is not to push liberal ideas, but to eliminate many of the falsehoods we learned in our own high school history classes and to find a more interesting way to teach history. This book is not intended as the only history book you should read, but as a starting point.

I encourage everyone that reads and enjoys this book to read more about the topics that interest you. History is not always pretty, but it is always interesting. Learning how we got where we are today honestly and without covering up the wrongs we did to get there makes it easier to go forward through life without making the same mistakes again.

People that dislike this book simply can't handle the truth about things like slavery, corruption and religion. Basing your beliefs on lies makes it very difficult to deal with the truth.

The entire Don't Know Much series is highly recommended and you will find the things you didn't know about history entertaining and enjoyable. If anything reading this book will make you prouder to be an American and better able to understand the difficulties in building and maintaining this great nation.

The long awaited fifth book of the Dark Tower doesn't disapoint from a story standpoint. The story continues right where the fourth book ends without skipping a beat. As in previous books there is plenty of crossover to other King novels as Father Callaghan from Salem's Lot makes his return in this adventure.

Where the disapointment lies for those of us that have followed the adventures of the Dark Tower and other related novels like The Talisman and Black House on audio is the loss of Frank Muller. George Guidall is mediocre at best and compared to Muller he is terrible. He isn't able to create the division in the different characters or bring the out the emotion of the story the way Muller could. His versions of Eddie and Susannah seem generic and uninteresting compared to the life and energy Muller put into them. Sad they couldn't find someone better to finish such an important story.

Consisting of recycled material from his rather large catalog of standup material this book is George Carlin at his pragmatic best. Looking at everything from Religion to Airline travel through the eyes of a man looking for the easiest answer to lifes mysteries no matter how much it upsets the average person. Like his previous books there is very little new here that hasn't been in his standup act, however, it is still as entertaining as every to listen to him reading it in this audiobook style.

Highly Recommended.

I will admit this book is by far the hardest read of the Dark Tower series. However, it does give an excellent introduction to the character of Roland and give you a basis for understanding the Dark Tower. Kings revisions have made the book flow much better than the original version and you will find this a very entertaining read that prepares you fully for the real adventure that starts in the second novel.

Conservatives are riding high and this is one of the worst of the bunch. Coulter's new book is filled with the same kind of lies and misinformation as her previous best seller Slander, but this one goes to even new lows by trying to defend one of the worst human beings that ever lived, Joseph McCarthy. She should do a little research into the hundreds of innocent lives this drunken senator ruined before jumping to his defense. I eagerly await her next book where she discusses the greatness of Adolph Hitler.

For fans of Michael Connelly this book was a delight. Terry McCaleb back in a new book and the main suspect is Harry Bosch. Connelly did a masterful job of combining his two stars into one novel. The story is well written and full of twists and suspence. Definitely a book that deserves to be called a page turner.

The Way Things Ought to Be is full of the nonsense and right wing insanity that has made Rush famous. Recommended reading unless you are a minority or have common sense. If you are either of those or both stay away, because you will be offended by the garbage Rush thinks would make the world better.
