Consistently entertaining and laugh out loud funny.

The book's author, Ken Levine (with Honoria Feldman being a close second).

Ken's delivery of jokes is spot-on - and his stentorian tones are quite soothing.

It made me laugh a lot. It didn't make me cry at all.

I listen to more than a dozen books on audio every year - and this was easily the most enjoyable in memory.

- is that this version of the book has been (apparently) greatly shortened from the full memoir.

I started listening with a fair amount of skepticism; Although I'm a democrat, I suppose I had the same perception of Hillary Clinton that so many others have - a woman who stayed in a marriage for political expediency - a woman with darker motives hidden by a sunny disposition - Lady Macbeth...

Having listened carefully to the whole book - can a single person who gave it one star say that? - I came away with a very different feeling about the woman.

There's something about hearing her tell the story in her own voice which will sway you - or it won't. But it's definitely worth the listen. Honestly. Give it a shot.

P.S. There seems to be a running complaint from the conservative reactionary subscribers implying that this book is Hillary Clinton's way of clearing the decks for a 2008 presidential run. If so - who cares? It's intelligent, well-written and thoughtfully performed.

P.P.S. I considered giving this book 5 stars to help counterbalance the 1 star given by those who didn't listen but merely hate the Clintons - but I wanted this to be 'fair and balanced' - and above all - AN HONEST EVALUATION OF THE MATERIAL, NOT AN EXPRESSION OF MY POLITICAL BELIEFS.

I would put money down that most (if not all) of the people who gave this book a negative review (including the reviewer who says that they're 'no fan of Dubya') were trying to sink Mailer's book without having even listened to it on the pretext that it's critical of our president (who we can all agree drew upon his great reserve of experience and understanding of international politics before he launched the campaign on Iraq).

If they HAD listened, they would know that Mailer's book is not some extreme liberal reactionary polemic but an intelligent and well-considered essay - even if it does run counter to these 'reviewers' take on current American policy.

Listen. Consider intelligently. And then react.
