Art and music reflects a culture at a particular time. The music/lyrics from these women have stood the test of time. Weller captures the time and the emotions that the lyrics describes. I have a better understanding of this period as I was a teenager/young adult during this period. An awesome "read".
Being an avid fan of the Kinsey Milhone Alphabet Series, I think this one is one of the top 3. A very good story with intricate story lines. I couldn???t stop listening! Judy Kaye is as usual an excellent ???actor???. I downloaded the book when first available and planned to listen to one or two chapters or so a week. Didn't happen!
This is a history of my family. A history that I lived as a child but did not know why a majority of my aunts and uncles moved "up north" from Alabama. I thought I knew my family's history. The Warmth of Other Suns informed me that I did not. My sons have been charged to listen or read this history our history. I left the South in the late sixties for a better life. I have no regrets. This book should be a must read for all people as it is the story of mankind and an American history that should be told.
