This book is several years overdue past its original deadline. I am pleased it when it finally arrived and it was not a disappointment. The audible book reader was *outstanding*. Fantastic. I was so pleased I also read the hard cover in addition to this audiobook. It is one of the few I have listened to multiple times. I can say that this is not an author whose work I display on my library shelves. Nor do I read her books over and over. But Acheron was excellent and I have listened to it repeatedly.

Some parts are rather sad and sometimes I skip those but the book, overall I have been terribly pleased with it. I think the audible reader's vocal talents are to be highlighted.

With the added flavor of the vocal talents of the actor, it took it over the top. Most of the feedback and reviews that were critical of the amount of pages devoted to the miserable beginning of Acherons life. That criticism was pretty scathing. Too little page percentage weighted for happier in balance with his overall lifetime. While it was an a sad life, and I would have liked it to have been a bit happier, I think people need to ease up. I am just glad the story has finally been told. This author has been dribbling out tidbits about this character for over a decade and now the meat and potatoes arrived.

In fact, I'd like to see another book on Acheron. I loved it.

I chose this audiobook based on his rave reviews. After listening to it two audiobooks on half price sale, I decided it was better to get them from the library.

Even after that it was hard finishing them. Neil's memories of these are a bit more romanticized in his reflections as an adult. I think there are better books for my valuable credit.

The mouser and his companions adventurers simply weren't anything tremendous to write home about.

They were okay. Not a dud. But at $20 or even $12 a book its a bit pricey.

With this being Orson Scott Card, I admit having a preconceived expectation. Admittedly with his religous background, I expected something something pleasant. This was anything but. He must have written this while inactive.

It was the most gruesome and depressing fairy tale I have ever been exposed to this side of Stephen King. Kings are a bit better done because as they are billed as straight out horror. Because of the fairy tale element, this has the shock value of finding a spider in your scrambled egg. Not pleasant.

I agree ..I will run out into the dead of night to buy anything Lois writes. I have tried to listen to this a number of times and it is impossible to stick with it. Anything else she writes I can listen to over and over and over again and be delighted. 5 stars. Addicted to her writing. Never be bored and in fact happy to listen to them repeatedly. Chalion and Phalladin of Souls I could say were every bit as good as Miles ?? Certainly as good as. And I am sure Lois is glad to get a break and bring closure to Miles' Saga. But this is not good, but for all the winners she has hit out of the park, I will look the other way.

30 home runs and 1 stinker is not a bad record...

This I cannot get thru. The characters are unlikeable and boring. I do not like the reader.

Out of desperation for anything Lois writes I will try again...

In imagination, a bit above Flash Gordan, below Superman. Lazy and repetitive fairly often "hard planes in his face" "his cold cold eyes" described so many ways it felt like Ming the Merciless there could get a run for his money in lack of originality.

I kept rolling my eyes. Thirty percent of this was trite, repetitive, lazy and pedestrian.

Christian Feehan is a romance author who is making an great living at giving the sexy and has a niche but this was not her best work.

The male main character was macho one dimenensional. Ho hum, seen him 1 million 1 billion times nothing new... Same old macho action character, insert new name and change city...nothing new..Actually had to skip sections...

Potential is there: after having listened to book 2 I can see where this will be very enjoyable as a series. These characters do not wring the heart like Miles and his family & crew but they are likeable and enjoyable. Dag and Spark will size up to be something, I sense a real potential in them and their story.

I did note that their stories do not have the crushing depth and emotional attachment I found in the Challion series or Miles V. And Bujold is an enjoyable writer and thats just fine.

I saw the movie and hadn't remembered buying the audiobook. Surprisingly, they were both diverse enough and different enough that I was still able to enjoy each separately very much. Having done so it did not feel like a rerun. I liked the ending of the movie better.

The ending of the audiobook left me somewhat unsatisfied, but overall I was quite happy with the entire endeavor.

Loved it.

Unique point of view for a fable. Highly recommend it. Can't wait for the next release.

Recommend this for any dog lover. Probably anyone who loves pets will enjoy it.

After listening to this book, I loaned it to a manager at work who had a similar breed of dog. He loved it. It is an emotional journey that is well worth the time.

Qualifies as a great book and fairy tale you are sad to hear it end.

Love this author and style of writing. This is quite different, but is a delightful change.

Never heard of Gregor or this series before, but now I am a convert. Excellent!
