The surprise hit of the year, Allison Pearson's debut novel is garnering critical and fan raves. Publishers Weekly calls I Don't Know How She Does It "delightfully fast moving...with dozens of laugh-aloud moments and many tenderly touching ones," and Booklist applauds this "compelling manifesto on the plight of working mothers that manages to be both angry and funny."

Charles Loveridge says: "I Don't Know How She Does It"
"The epitome of the spoken-word experience"
    Overall

I give this title 5 stars out of 4. The book is superbly paced, and narrator Emma Fielding is nothing short of brilliant. Allison Pearson focuses on relationships and the difficulty in juggling career and personal issues, and her deft touch is perfect.

When we meet septuagenarian Margaret Hughes, she is living alone in a mansion in Seattle with only a massive collection of valuable antiques for company. Enter Wanda Schultz, a young woman with a broken heart who has come to Seattle to search for her wayward boyfriend. Both women are guarding dark secrets and have spent many years building up protective armor against the outside world.

Barbara says: "Wonderful story of mending and redemption"
    "Excruciatingly tired characters"
    Overall

Interesting book, interesting characters, but not interesting enough for 10 hours. The author repeated her themes ad nauseum. Plot really does matter. It's a shame this book doesn't have one.
