This book was engaging from start to finish. The narrator was wonderful. This was a book that reminds me why I prefer books on audio: A good narrator brings the story to life in a way that you can't get on your own by just reading the text. I highly recommend this book, and not just for the YA audience.

This is my favorite Sandra Brown by far. Loved the twists and turns, loved the interaction between Coburn and Emily, loved not knowing the villain until much later than usual. Narration was great, love Victor Sleazak.

I feel out of place with this review, but as a fan of YA I really couldn't stand this book. I quite liked Before I Fall, but this story dragged and the prose was totally overwrought. Sarah Drew did the best she could with it but I just found myself rolling my eyes and having to turn it off. I could only listen to this in short bits. Does every observation by the protagonist have to be so dramatic? There were many parts of Before I Fall that were overwrought as well so maybe I am just having trouble with Lauren Oliver.

The protagonist of this story is portrayed as an idiot. She didn't know that Matt was a spineless daddy's boy before marrying him? And a mother of a newborn being hunted by white supremacists does not forgo her opportunity to escape because she feels sorry for a man she barely knows. But the worst part of this audio book is the narration. Like so many books, you don't get to hear the narrator do the characters' voices in the sample. Her Kendall voice was awful, as were all her male voices. I almost couldn't finish the book because listening to Kendall was driving me nuts.

I recommend other Sandra Brown audio books such as Lethal, Envy and White Hot. This is a waste of a credit.

Brief moments of suspense.

When I listened to the sample I heard a bit of irritating background noise but assumed it was because of the poor quality of my computer speakers. Not so. This narrator speaks as though she has a very dry mouth or something. The noises I heard are coming from her mouth. Absolutely grating. And she pauses for excessive amounts of time. Also, her voice is way too old to be believable as a seventeen year old girl. I regret downloading it, wish I had just read the paper copy.

This is the first book in P.B.'s Secret series. Only two in the series, this one and the third one, are on audio, which is a shame. The narration for this one is, in a word, perfect. I wish this narrator had done book 3 (This book is not good for you), but he didn't. The narrator's rendition of the Bergamo brothers is hilarious. You will love this.

What can you say about Cherry Jones? She is a fantastic narrator for this story. This is one of those books for which hearing it narrated is far better than reading the text yourself. Your kids will love this.

If you like the Ramona series, as my family does, this is a great listen. Stockard Channing is the perfect narrator.

I downloaded this book because the reviews were, overall, quite good. This book is so awful it is difficult to express in words. I am on chapter 45 and I am so bored I want to die. The author offers NO answers, none. Not even hints. No foreshadowing, either. Am I seriously going have to wait until the last 30 minutes to get answers? I am only finishing it on principle now, since I already paid for it. It's not as though I expected this to be as good as the Hunger Games, but I at least expected to be entertained. I honestly can't listen to this without my mind wandering it is so unbelievable boring. Run, don't walk, from this book.

I actually liked this book. Sure, it's not socially meaningful literature, but so what? I just want a fun, brainless book to listen to when I walk the dog and SEP always comes through. When I want Pulitzer material, I re-listen to "The Help." As for the Brangelina rip-off, so what? No biggie.

But, PLEASE ditch Julia Gibson. The minute I started listening to it I thought to myself that this sounds like the awful narrator from "Belong to Me." Checked and sure enough, same narrator. You think she was bad on this one, try listening to "Belong to Me." The only voice she did well in this book was Aaron. Please find a new narrator.

And for those waiting for a SEP book as good as Natural Born Charmers, give it up. There always has to be a best and a worst. I don't see the point in hating a SEP book just because it's not as good as Natural Born Charmers. SEP books are lots of fun.
