"Will listen to it at least one more time"
There is so much intersting information that I feel I need to listen to the book at least one more time. Very nice and logical presentation of money evolution.
"Some useful information for parents"
This book has some interesting parts on understanding boys and why they do the things they do. I think some parents would greatly benefit from the chapter on ADD (I think this may be the strongest part of the book).
I also wish I held back my son, as the author recommends, and had him start school later rather than earlier as he did.
I think the main weakness of the book is in the section on video games. There have been many studies on the impact of video games on boys, many of them conflicting each other. However, there seems to be a clear indication that there are benefits in playing video games and it appears they are not so far detached from reality as the author states.
What about surgical operations via remotely controlled robots? What about pilot trainers which allow pilots to prepare for real flights without endangering anyone's life? What about NASA astronauts who practice each aspect of their flights on electronic simulators? Aren't all these real life "video games"?
The part on video games was one of the main reasons I picked up this book hoping that it may provide some clarity on the subject. Unfortunately, the author missed the mark here. I was truly hoping to hear some suggestions on how parents could create a healthy balance of all important aspects in the typical boy's life including video games, outdoors activities, reading books, and doing well in school.
"Great book!"
Great story presenting the insights of the sub-prime mortgage crisis. Loved the content, the presentation and all interesting facts.
"Under expectations..."
This book has some interesting information mainly around Apple I and II computers. There is not much else that I consider to be worth the time. The style is very simple (reminds me an essay written by a kid in elementary school). Overall, low value for the time you would spend to listen to it.
"Great book for teenagers and ... adults, too!"
Once again Richard Dawkins delivers an excellent book with his easy-to-follow and easy-to-understand style!
I highly recommend this book to everyone who wants to get a fresh scientific view on many realities in our lives. It will be highly beneficial to young adults as they need to form an objective and unbiased opinion about the world around us.
"Hard to understand..."
As much as I like Christopher Hitchens I had hard time understanding the talk. Perhaps, my ear is not trained to understand the British pronunciation...
"Brilliant!!!"
Richard Dawkins is absolutely brilliant! This is one of the most intelligent and educational books I have ever listened to or read. He is showing with an excellent examples and associations how nature works. Listen to this book if you are interested in understanding how natural selection is the driving the evolution on our planet. Everything will make so much more sense!
"Not much of country driving..."
Large part of the book talks about the author's experience living in a small village not too far from Beijing. I expected that there would be interesting information about the life in the different parts of China. The book does show certain unique aspects of the life in China but it seemed that was lacking to highlight some key points.
"Excellent book!"
Finally... An explanation of why it is good to free your mind and think independently. I am planning to check other Richard Dawkins' books.
"Expected more..."
I expected more from this book. It tell you about all those things you hear in the media all the time and you can do nothing about anyway (with very few exceptions).
