The title character from ABC's hit television series Castle kicks off his new series of books featuring tough and sexy New York police detective Nikki Heat with a bang.

Ryan says: "As advertised-Great lite read."
    "Takes awhile to get into"
    Overall

Not as well read as I would have liked...but I could visualize the characters as we watch the TV show and really enjoy it. It took awhile to make that adjustment to the "readers" voices but then it became a bit more interesting and enjoyable.

Matthew King was once considered one of the most fortunate men in Hawaii. His missionary ancestors who came to the islands were financially and culturally progressive - one even married a Hawaiian princess, making Matt a royal descendant and one of the state’s largest landowners. But now his luck has changed. His two daughters are out of control - 10-year-old Scottie has a smart-ass attitude and a desperate need for attention and 17-year-old Alex is a recovering drug addict.

What did you like best about The Descendants? What did you like least?

I am a born and raise haole "Hawaiian" with family that has similar land situations...so I loved the story and have a distant connection to the author...The movie was wonderful... especially.. George!!! However the narrator turned me off with his poor pronunciation of the Hawaiian language...even the simplest words.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Jonathan Davis?

Some one who knows the islands and the language...with a connection.

Why we think it’s a great listen: A masterpiece like none other, Brooks’ powerful performance of Haley’s words has been known to leave listeners in tears. It begins with a birth in an African village in 1750, and ends two centuries later at a funeral in Arkansas. And in that time span, an unforgettable cast of men, women, and children come to life, many of them based on the people from Alex Haley's own family tree.

Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon is summoned to deliver an evening lecture in the U.S. Capitol. Within minutes of his arrival, the night takes a bizarre turn. A disturbing object is discovered in the Capitol Building. The object is an ancient invitation, meant to usher its recipient into a long-lost world of hidden esoteric wisdom. And when Langdon's mentor is kidnapped, Langdon's only hope of saving him is to accept this invitation and follow wherever it leads him.

    Frank says: "Not his best"
    "AMAZING ...SPELLBINDING"
    Overall

All 17+ hours are filled with excitement and drama. Dan Brown is a fountain of knowledge and information...much of which tied to the "mysteries" I have been exposed to/studied over many years. We listened on a drive to Arizona and it kept our attention all the way!
