Dan Savage’s mother wants him to get married. His boyfriend, Terry, says “no thanks” because he doesn’t want to act like a straight person. Their six-year-old son, D.J., says his two dads aren’t “allowed” to get married but that he’d like to come to the reception and eat cake. Throw into the mix Dan’s straight siblings, whose varied choices form a microcosm of how Americans are approaching marriage these days, and you get a rollicking family memoir that will have everyone—gay or straight, right or left, single or married—howling with laughter.

A very funny, honest accounting of a little slice of Dan Savage's life. I enjoyed it a lot, but missed Dan's characteristic voice. I know he's busy these days, but I would have liked to have him read this himself.

The Earl of St. Merryn needs a woman. His intentions are purely practical - he simply wants someone sensible and suitably lovely to pose as his betrothed for a few weeks among polite society. He has his own agenda to pursue, and a false fiancée will keep the husband-hunters at bay while he goes about his business. The easiest solution is to hire a paid companion.

The plot of this novel is pretty solid for a romance novel. And the narrator is great! A great voice and accent, and truly makes all the dialogue come alive. I'm actually going to go look for other stuff he's narrated right now.

Viscount Torrington is the hottest commodity in town as London's matchmaking season begins. But the viscount only has eyes for the penniless Widow Carrington, who has recently been accused of murder.

    "Boring and contrived"
    Overall

Worse than even your average romance novel... the character's motivations seem contrived and implausible. And there's pretty much no heat between the main characters. I knew that I couldn't finish listening when I thought, "Oh my god--not another sex scene! Didn't they just do that?"

One of Jane Austen's most popular novels. Arrogant, self-willed, and egotistical, Emma is her most unusual heroine.

    "Best book of all time"

This is one of the best books in English literature. Complex, well-developed characters, especially the heroine.

Stephanie Laurens' hot-blooded romances, including her New York Times best-selling Bar Cynster series, have earned her legions of loyal devotees. The beginning of an exciting new saga, The Lady Chosen introduces the distinguished war veterans of the Bastion Club, single gentlemen not entirely committed to staying that way.

Julia Aryeh says: "Why Jill Tanner?????"
    "Contrived"
    Overall

I know this is only a romance novel, but I found the plot to be pretty thin. The conflict keeping this 19th-century couple apart? Our heroine doesn't feel like getting married. She's not sure why. The resolution to this heart-wrenching problem? She thinks about it for a bit, then decides it would be cool to get married after all. Really. I mean, I realise there's a bad guy and all, but that doesn't excuse the lack of a romantic plot. Good narrator, though.

When 15-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder - much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Then the body disappears into thin air. It's hard to call the police when the murderers are invisible to everyone else and when there is nothing, not even a smear of blood, to show that a boy has died. Or was he a boy?

Teddy says: "2 Stars because it actually gets worse...."
    "Good!"

A great and entertaining listen. A little adventure, a little romance, and it's simply written so you don't lose track of what's happening if you're doing other stuff while listening. Recommended!

Why we think it’s a great listen: An all-time Audible favorite that mixes historic fiction, adventure, and romance with one of the most fascinating literary devices: time travel. Outlander introduces an exhilarating world of heroism and breathtaking thrills as one woman is torn between past and present, passion and love. In 1945, former combat nurse Claire Randall returns from World War II and joins her husband for a second honeymoon. But their blissful reunion is shattered....

Super long and slow moving. I couldn't get over the scene where he beats her. It was a sort of loss of trust thing where I just got bored of the whole story after that.
