Susan Michaels was once the hottest reporter on the Beltway Beat until a major scandal ruined her life and left her writing stories about alien babies and Elvis sightings. Life as she once knew it is over, or so she thinks until she gets a lead on the biggest story in town: The Seattle Slayer. She heads to the local animal shelter, expecting a tip on the latest rash of killings. Instead, she gets a story about the mayor feeding citizens to a ring of vampires. Yeah, just another day in her life.

    Overall

I've read several of Ms. Kenyon's novels over the years. They're always enjoyable. This one in particular is full of action nearly from page one. My wife, who has not read any of them, was unfortunately a little lost at first as this really isn't a standalone novel but part of the series and there are lots of references to previous books and not enough background. Overall, a very enjoyable read...um, listen.

Returning to the territory he so brilliantly explored in his masterful New York Times best seller American Gods, the incomparable Neil Gaiman offers up a work of dazzling ingenuity, a kaleidoscopic journey deep into myth that is at once startling, terrifying, exhilarating, and fiercely funny, a true wonder of a novel that confirms Stephen King's glowing assessment of the author as "a treasure house of story, and we are lucky to have him."

    A. Hawley says: "Beautifully narrated"
"Off beat, but lots of fun"
    Overall

This is certainly not my favorite book by Neil Gaiman, but, it was a lot of fun to hear and made a several hour trip just that much quicker.

For the three years Shadow spent in prison, all he wanted was to get back to the loving arms of his wife and stay out of trouble for the rest of his life. But days before his release, he learns that his wife has been killed in an accident, and his world becomes a colder place.

Joseph says: "Amazing, powerful book about America."
    "Haunting and entertaining"
    Overall

I read this book shortly after it was released and remembered that it was very enjoyable. I downloaded the audio book for my wife and I to listen to in the car during our daily commute. What I had forgotten was how dark and moody the book is...I don't thing my wife will ever forget it.

Wollie Shelley is a greeting card artist struggling to keep afloat financially and to pursue, despite a series of recent disasters, the search for the love of her life. She reluctantly agrees to be a contestant on the reality television show Biological Clock. The show's premise: six eligible singles date each other, and the audience votes on which couple would make the best parents.

My wife and I enjoyed this novel very much. The story was tight and engaging, the humor nicely interwoven and the characters where right on the money.

I understand that this is the second story...I would love to hear both the first and any new books as they're written.
