This book was surprisingly good -- a little long and drawn out, but wonderful nonetheless. There were not many surprises, but the plot development, the character interaction, and the story's speed were all excellent. I'll never look at a house the same way again.I look forward to his next book.

This was a wonderfully engrossing book about our "me-first" society and those people [not the strong, but the rich] who prey on the weak. The young Nanny allows herself to be a doormat for her employer while falling in love with her charge. The ending was particularly sad -- the throwaway Nanny, the throwaway [deleted to not spoil the story], and the inevitable questions about what happens to the charge AND the Nanny in the future. It was a great read, with a great READER.

I really enjoyed this book. The characters came to life, and the Mormonism portrayed was both a faith-sharing act from the author, and an important part of the character development. I really enjoyed the author's note at the end. It made me look at the book with new eyes. I'll definitely pick more of his books in the future.

This book is an enjoyable ride, made better by the reader's use of voices AND the many, many index points available in the book. I look forward to reading more in the saga, as well as reading other books from this young author.

I got this book because I love the Broadway version. I was very surprised at the extent of the "foul" language... I was quite surprised, because he has such a great vocabulary. I would have expected more creativity in the "bad" words. Many explicit and suggestive scenes in the story, making for some interesting sub-texts. I did enjoy the thorough was the characters were developed, although some parts did seem excessively long. The narrator was very good and didn't get in the way of the story as some narrators do.

I didn't see that the characters were as bad as others did. In fact, I can't remember a Christian novel before where a good guy actually even THOUGHT about having an alcoholic beverage. Yes, it's squeaky-clean, but would you expect a book from a Christian to have sex?? I'm not sure I buy into the science in the last scene, but it does have an interesting idea...loved the birds...

My biggest gripe is the narrator. I don't know if he's the guy from the Smuckers commercial or not, but I found myself wanting to eat lots of jelly....

Very informative and interesting, but sounded like a legal memoranda. Thought provoking.

Enjoyed the book for what it is -- a NOVEL -- so didn't take it as seriously as some. Can't figure out what all the brouhaha from the religious sector (and I AM a Christian) is all about. It's ONLY A NOVEL! Even if it has historical elements, do we have to read demons into every page?? There are MANY historical novels out there which do the same thing -- weave history into a story for today. Will listen to it again and again. Found that the recording ended mid-chapter 103 which was very annoying.
