Daughter of a cold, controlling mother and an anonymous donor, studious, obedient Elizabeth finally let loose one night, drinking too much at a nightclub and allowing a strange man’s seductive Russian accent to lure her to a house on Lake Shore Drive. The events that followed changed her life forever. Twelve years later, the woman now known as Abigail Lowery lives alone on the outskirts of a small town in the Ozarks. A freelance programmer, she works at home designing sophisticated security systems.

What did you love best about The Witness?

I loved the strength of the heroine and the compassion of the hero.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Liz/Abigail is my favorite character she is so set on taking care of herself, but eventually she comes to realize that it's enough to be able to take care of yourself and still allow someone you love to care for you.

Have you listened to any of Julia Whelan’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I had not listened to any other Julia Whelan performance, but I really enjoyed this one and would not hesitate to choose another one.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

My favorite moment in the book, as usual, is when Abigail tells Brooks her back story and he realizes everything she went through in her past and why she is the way she is.

    Any additional comments?

This story held my interest throughout. This is vintage Nora Roberts. I am a huge Nora Roberts/J D Robb fan and think all of her stories have been great, but this is definately one of her best.
