Ever since the gods of Ancient Egypt were unleashed in the modern world, Carter Kane and his sister, Sadie, have been in trouble. As descendants of the House of Life, the Kanes have some powers at their command, but the devious gods haven’t given them much time to master their skills at Brooklyn House, which has become a training ground for young magicians. And now their most threatening enemy yet—the chaos snake Apophis—is rising.

I was introduced to Mr Riordan’s works by my teenage cousin who wanted me to read the Percy Jackson series with her. I was instantly hooked to the series. I am a sucker for anything historical/mythological related.

I began to search for other books written by Mr Riordan.

I came across the Kane Chronicles. The dynamic relationship between Carter and Sadie reminds of my own relationship with my sibling. The sarcasm. The mutual understanding that we can pick on each other however we want, but if an outsider tries to pick on either one of us, then they’ve another thing coming…

The wonderful narration + Mr Riordan's writing made me felt like I was on the same adventure as the Kanes.

I look forward to finishing the Kane series.

Some people have dreams that are so magnificent that if they were to achieve them, their place in history would be guaranteed. People like Christopher Columbus, Isaac Newton, Florence Nightingale, Thomas Edison, Nancy Astor, Charles Lindbergh, Amy Johnson, Edmund Hilary and Neil Armstrong - their unparalleled success has made their stories into legend. But what if one man had such a dream, and once he'd achieved it, there was no proof that he had fulfilled his ambition?

First book I read of Mr Archer's was the Prisoner of Birth, which I loved.
Then it was Kane and Abel, another great title.

But Paths of Glory, just felt short to me. The narration was excellent.
Guess the content about mountain climbing just wasn't my cup of tea.

However, it did get me to look up info about some of the key part players from the book.

This audiobook by far was the longest book that I've ever listened to, but it was totally worth it. The narration by Mr Culp was excellent and it brought the book alive.

When you're the best at what you do, it's not always easy to walk away. Nathan McBride was retired. The trained Marine sniper and cover CIA operative had put the violence of his former life behind him. But not anymore. A deep-cover FBI agent has disappeared along with one ton of powerful Semtex explosive, enough to unleash a disaster of international proportions. The U.S. government has no choice but to coax Nathan out of retirement.

For once Audible's recommendations didn't disappoint...

I am a thriller junkie, and I don’t care if more often than not the stories are a bit formulaic. As long as the plot is good, the narrator doesn't put you to sleep, the characters are likable and/or interesting, I am IN.

This book was just that. Liked Nathan's character, a master of weaponry, skills, etc, and yet, he's flawed.

Will be checking out other books in the series.

Loved the Percy Jackson series, so the Kane Chronicles was an obvious choice.

From Greek mythology onward to Egyptian. Great story, with excellent narrations. Didn't want the story to end. Looking fwd to book 2 and book 3.

It matters not, if you're not the targeted audience, this audio book is for you, if you like classical mythology, are an avid fan of the sci-fi channel, want to escape several hours by listening to a good story with excellent voice acting…

The modern audience hasn't had a chance to truly appreciate the unknowing dread that readers would have felt when reading Bram Stoker's original 1897 manuscript. Most modern productions employ campiness or sound effects to try to bring back that gothic tension, but we've tried something different. By returning to Stoker's original storytelling structure - a series of letters and journal entries voiced by Jonathan Harker, Dr. Van Helsing, and other characters - with an all-star cast of narrators, we've sought to recapture its originally intended horror and power.

Saw the movie, never read (or listened to) the book til now.

Voice acting was wonderful, enjoyed it more than the usual one person narration.
