I found the book informative and enjoyable. It was annoying that for all Mithradates skill, he just could not beat the Romans when it counted. Anyone who thinks the Romans are the good guys will be shocked by this book, they were violent scum of the highest order.

I hated all the sequels to Enders Game on a geometric ratio, the further into the series the more I hated it. I thought Enders Game was a work of genius, but his sequels are full of annoying, horrible people and ridiculous plot lines. Common guys, why would the Speaker of the Dead spend more than a nano second with that hideous family that he ends up marrying into? His wife is one of the greatest drop kicks in literary history, for me she had no redeeming features.

Eventually I had to stop mid point in this book to save my sanity.

What really annoyed me was that I could see the potential in this series, but the author seems to need a stronger editor to take him to task. I suppose if you liked the previous sequels to Enders this is more of the same, but if you’re reading it in the forlorn hope that he will rediscover his mojo – stop now!

This book gives a brilliant insight of what it was like to be in the US Army, in Iraq, post Saddam. The author is very funny, honest and doesn't spare the listener from any of the horrors of war. This is a book you must get.

I am a big fan of Wodehouse and the Code of the Woosters is one of my favourite books, but I found this book disappointing. I know this book is 80 odd years old but I found the male and female interactions to be very dated and worst of all, unfunny.

The farce element of the book which Wodehouse can do so just didn't work for me. For reviewers to claim that the characters in this book are some of Wodehouse's best, puzzles me. Lord Ickenham just seemed pompous and his clever plans were exceedingly stupid. The policeman and his love interest were annoying, in fact none of the characters were of interest to me.


I guess the good news is that if you like this book there is nothing that Wodehouse wrote that you won't love.

If you're a fan of history this is a compelling tale with larger than life protagonists battling in many cases, literally to the death. The author is to be commended for his excellent research and his ability to make the story so engaging.

If you're a fan of Donaldson, Tolkien, Jordan and Feist please steer clear of this book. It's definitely second tier fantasy and I'm amazed so many people like it.

The love story is a pedo's wet dream and there are holes in the plot you could drive a semitrailer through. I listened to most of it but finally gave up - you have been warned.

When I bought Tyrant I was expecting a history book, not a novel based around the known facts of Dionysius's life. In my opinion it should be removed from the history section as most of the books content is just the authors imagination running wild.
