  • When He Was Wicked

    • UNABRIDGED (9 hrs and 54 mins)
    • By Julia Quinn
    • Narrated By Simon Prebble
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Michael Stirling and his cousin, John, the Earl of Kilmartin, are as close as brothers. However, Michael is secretly in love with John's wife, Francesca Bridgerton. When John suddenly dies, Michael is wracked with guilt and pain. Even though he is determined to remain simply Francesca's friend and confidant, the temptation is far too great.

Marcheta says: "Engrossing and beautifully written"
    "great book!"

If you like Julia Quinn, you're going to love this book. The dialogue sequences are some of the best she's ever written. Are some of the sex scenes over-the-top? Yes. Is it still a good read written by someone who understands loss, guilt and grief? Absolutely. Give it a try.

  • Loving Rose: The Redemption of Malcolm Sinclair

    • UNABRIDGED (11 hrs and 27 mins)
    • By Stephanie Laurens
    • Narrated By Napoleon Ryan

Miraculously spared from death, Malcolm Sinclair erases the notorious man he once was. Reinventing himself as Thomas Glendower, he strives to make amends for his past, yet he never imagines penance might come via a secretive lady he discovers living in his secluded manor. Rose has a plausible explanation for why she and her children are residing in Thomas's house, but she quickly realizes he's far too intelligent to fool. Revealing the truth is impossibly dangerous, yet day by day he wins her trust, and then her heart.

    zahra says: "An entertaining story"
"If you are into murder detective novels..."
Would you try another book from Stephanie Laurens and/or Napoleon Ryan?

I personally don't care for "who done it" novels and try to avoid them. The write up for the book should have explained that this was a" detective finds the murderer" book.

  • Wild Man

    • UNABRIDGED (13 hrs and 55 mins)
    • By Kristen Ashley
    • Narrated By Kate Russell
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

While filling the display case in her bakery, the bell over the door sounds and Tessa O'Hara looks up to see the man of her dreams. Within thirty seconds he asks her out for a beer. But after four months of dating, she discovers he's an undercover DEA agent-and he's investigating her possible role in her ex-husband's drug business. For Tess, this means their relationship is over.

Katheryne says: "The Dream Man Series is Irresistible"
    "Couldn't finish it"
Would you try another book from Kristen Ashley and/or Kate Russell?

I'm not sure. The constant "F" this and "sh*t" that got really old. The author seems to have a real thing for labeling someone "her man." The heroine is supposed to be a domestic abuse survivor... but she doesn't behave like one. Women who have been betrayed by someone they loved do not trust easily. Yet this character is EXTREMELY quick to forgive and forget and jump back into the "hero's" arms after he lies to her. I can't help thinking that the author missed an opportunity to make this a much more interesting story. More of the plot should have been centered around his betrayal, her subsequent lack of trust, his unwillingness to give up on them, and their reconciliation.

  • Play with Me

    • UNABRIDGED (9 hrs and 25 mins)
    • By Kristen Proby
    • Narrated By Jennifer Mack
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Will Montgomery is a successful professional football player and seemingly has it all. He’s not used to being told no, and certainly doesn’t take no for an answer. So when he turns his charms on his sister’s sexy rocker-chick friend Meg, he’s not only turned down, but met with open hostility, piquing his curiosity and libido.

Jordy says: "This is Will & Meg's story! It didn't disappoint!"
"If you're really into body art and piercings.."
What would have made Play with Me better?

If you' can't get enough of body art and piercings, this is the book for you. I don't mind reading about a character with tats and piercings, but I was bored of hearing about her love affair with her piercing before the end of the third chapter. By the fifth, I called it a loss and bought another book.

  • Shadowheart: Medieval Hearts, Book 2

    • UNABRIDGED (17 hrs and 50 mins)
    • By Laura Kinsale
    • Narrated By Nicholas Boulton

A fatally dangerous man...and the woman who stands in the way of all he's ever desired. Beautiful and ruthless, the elegant assassin Allegreto will stop at nothing to regain his rightful place. And the perfect instrument has just fallen into his hands, in the lovely form of Lady Elena - the long-lost princess of the land he intends to wrest back from his enemies. But she is no mere maiden to be possessed.

~~ DARA ~~ says: "Another Kinsale Winner!"
    "I usually love Kinsale"
What would have made Shadowheart better?

I usually love Kinsale... I bought this because I occasionally like to read fantasy lit. Magical worlds. But if you aren't a serious devotee of S and M, the "love" scenes will make you ill and leave you empty. I couldn't finish the book. These scenes are long, numerous, and quite graphic... and it's harder to skip ahead with an audio book than a hard copy of the text.

  • Highlander Taken

    • UNABRIDGED (11 hrs and 23 mins)
    • By Juliette Miller
    • Narrated By Gemma Johansson
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

To secure her family's alliance with the powerful Clan Mackenzie, Stella Morrison has no choice but to wed the notorious Kade Mackenzie. Unable to ignore the whispers that surround him, she resigns herself to a marriage in name only. Yet as the fierce warrior strips away Stella's doubt one seductive touch at a time, burgeoning desire forces her to question all she holds as truth. Leading a rebellious army should have been Kade's greatest challenge... but conquering the heart of his reluctant bride becomes an all-consuming need.

~~ DARA ~~ says: "Wow! I wasn't expecting this much sensuality!"
"Writers should do a little research...."
Would you try another book from Juliette Miller and/or Gemma Johansson?

no. I'm not a psychologist, but even I know that people who have been physically abused as children do not enjoy being "whipped" as adults. I personally don't understand why anyone would get off on being abused, but I know for a fact that adults who were abused as children flee from violent physical contact of any kind. Even football, wrestling. Some of the passages in this book made me ill....

  • The Secret: Highlands' Lairds, Book 1

    • UNABRIDGED (12 hrs and 46 mins)
    • By Julie Garwood
    • Narrated By Susan Duerden
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Judith Hampton was as beautiful as she was proud and loyal. Her dear Scottish friend from childhood was about to give birth, and Judith had promised to be at her side. But there was another reason for the journey from her bleak English home to the Highlands: to meet the father she had never known, the Laird Maclean. Nothing prepared her, however, for the sight of the Scottish barbarian who was to escort her into his land...Iain Maitland, laird of his clan, a man more powerfully compelling than any she had ever encountered.

~~ DARA ~~ says: "Nice Historical Highland Romance"

  • Undead and Unfinished: Queen Betsy, Book 9

    • UNABRIDGED (7 hrs and 41 mins)
    • By MaryJanice Davidson
    • Narrated By Nancy Wu
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Ninth in the series, Undead and Unfinished finds Vampire Queen Betsy Taylor slogging her way through the Book of the Dead. When Lucifer offers to give up all the book’s secrets, Betsy is intrigued. But there’s a catch, of course. For her part of the bargain, Betsy must take her half-sister, Laura, to Hell, so Laura can develop an appreciation for her dark heritage.

    Coby says: "Half a book"
"if you loved the others, you'll love this one"

I was reluctant to purchase this one after reading the reviews. But I personally thought this one showed more imagination than the last 2. Yes, I've read all 9. And I'll probably keep listening to them as long as Mary Janice wants to write them. Escapism.

    • By Dorothy Garlock
    • Narrated By Renee Raudman
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Adrianna Moore has just had a double shock: the death of her father and the discovery that he has left his entire estate to his lawyer. The lawyer, a repulsive social climber, tells her that to regain her inheritance, she must marry him "a week from Sunday". Adrianna takes off, driving desperately to a new life.

    Hannah says: "Boo Narrator"
    "Wanted: Narrator"

This book HAS to be read again. The accents, inflections made for a painful experience. I wish I had read the reviews before purchasing.

  • Open Season

    • ABRIDGED (4 hrs and 49 mins)
    • By Linda Howard
    • Narrated By Kate Forbes

Daisy Minor is bored. Worse than that, she's boring. A plain, small-town librarian, she's got a wardrobe as sexy as a dictionary and hasn't been on a date in years. She's never even had a lukewarm love affair, let alone a hot one. So when she wakes up on her 34th birthday, she begins transforming herself into a manhunting party girl. But one night she sees something she shouldn't - and suddenly she becomes the target of a killer.

    Irisandu2 says: "Lots Of Fun"
