She's also a witch, one of the many Inderlanders who revealed themselves after a genetically engineered virus wiped out 50 percent of humanity. Witches, warlocks, vampires, werewolves: the creatures of dreams and nightmares have lived beside humans for centuries, hiding their powers. But now they've stopped hiding, and nothing will be the same.

I am now listening to the 11th book in this series and have enjoyed it very much. Based on other reviews, I did skip the 6th book (The Outlaw Demon Wails) and read it instead of listening. I can't imagine anyone other than Marguerite Gavin narrating the books. Her voices for Rachel, Ivy, Jenks and all the characters are perfect.

Ryder is the hardest Montgomery brother to figure out - with a tough-as-nails outside and possibly nothing too soft underneath. He’s surly and unsociable, but when he straps on a tool belt, no woman can resist his sexy swagger. Except, apparently, Hope Beaumont, the innkeeper of his own Inn BoonsBoro.... As the former manager of a D.C. hotel, Hope is used to excitement and glamour, but that doesn’t mean she can’t appreciate the joys of small-town living. She’s where she wants to be - except for in her love life....

Now it’s getting a major face-lift from the Montgomery brothers and their eccentric mother. As the architect in the family, Beckett’s social life consists mostly of talking shop over pizza and beer. If you could sum up Jacob in three words, what would they be?

    Sexy, enthralling and captivating.

What other book might you compare Jacob to and why?

I have all of Charlaine Harris' books (Sookie, Lilly Bard, Aurora Teagarden and Harper Connelly) and, I can't believe I'm saying this, I think I like this book better.

What does Xe Sands bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The first time I listened to the book, I thought the narration was terrible. I had to listen a 2nd time because I kept falling asleep. The 2nd time, I enjoyed listening to the husky accents she gives the demons. I just finished listening a third time and have decided it's time to get the 2nd book in the series, Gideon.
