I didn't know what to expect with this book but it was a nice surprise. I am a huge fan of post-apocalyptic books and thought this sounded like a good listen. The book starts off quickly with action and keeps moving fast the entire time.
This is a book where the characters keep making bad decisions but thats what makes it a fun listen. Overall I am glad a picked this one up and will be picking up another one from this author.
This was a great story. I was a little skeptical about getting it. Several reviews compared it to hunger games and I was not really interested.
The author did a great job developing this futuristic world and creating believable characters to root for (and against).
I am a big fan of Stephen King, and really enjoy most of his work. This one was a chore to listen to. The performance was done well, but I couldn't keep going. This could have been an interesting story if about half of the details and plot lines were deleted.
Normally I enjoy deep character development but this just lasted too long.
I really liked the idea of this story and wanted to like it, but I just couldn't stay with it. The narrator did a good job with the characters, but I didn't like the format of the story. You could tell that this was written as several small stories stuck together. The characters were very predictable and you pretty much knew what was going to happen.
I would pass on this one.
Loop it back.
The way the main character changes during the book. At the start you are shown a fresh recruit heading into battle, and as the story progresses you get to see how he develops and changes into something else.
He does excellent voices and performs the story with a great tempo. I have not listened to one of Mike's narrations before, but will look for him in the future.
No, but it was a good story.
Hiroshi came up with a very unique spin on the future war story. If you are a fan of Armor by John Steakley I think you will like this book.
Books one and two of this series were very good. I liked the character development and the plot, and I think the author did a good job of making a zombie plague seem real.
I cannot understand why you would change narrators once you are this far into a series. The narrator for the first 2 books did a great job of changing his voice, and I liked the way he performed the story. This new narrator might be ok, but I can't get past the characters sounding completely different. This is one of those books I wish I had not purchased.
Maybe I will try listening again when the previous stories are not as fresh in my mind.
My advice would be to get something else.
I picked this book up for a long road trip and was very entertained. I am a big fan of zombie stories and this is about zombies vs werewolves. The author does a good job of describing some very strange situations. There were a few points in the book where I had to back up and re-listen to a chapter because things seemed to skip around. Overall it was a fun book.
This is my first listen to a Jim Bernheimer book and it was great. He does an excellent job developing characters and puts together a really interesting plot. The good guys and bad guys were well thought out.
The best part of this book was the humor. The author does a great job of making you understand what the characters are going through.
The Narrator (Jeffrey Kafer) does an excellent job with all of the voices, and I would love to listen to him again.
The listen was decent, but not a great story. I do not agree with some of the other reviews about this being a masterpiece. It is an OK listen, but very predictable. The book is broken into several different stories about the main guy reverse time traveling. No big surprise along the way. Each story is about the same but there are slightly different details since they are in different time periods.
Don't want to give away much of the story, but it is pretty simple. The narrator did an OK job.
I like Star Wars books and have listened to most of the ones on audiobooks. This book was hard to get into. I liked the first book in the series, but this one had the feeling of a filler novel. I know this is part 2 of a 3 part series, and it was written in that manner. I stopped this one about 3 hours in and listened to a different book. After I finished that one I picked this one back up and tried to give it another shot. It just couldn't keep my attention.
This is one of those books that after about 2 hours you realize you wasted a credit.
Not sure. I din't read the book.
This is a great story. Stephen King (as always) delivers a great story, and his writing style is the best in the business. The story was a little too long for me. Part three really started to drag. I gave it 4 stars overall because it is a good story. I typically listen a few hours a day to each book, and that might now be the best way to listen to this one.
If you have a LOOONNGG road trip or can listen to it in big chunks you will probably enjoy it more.
The main character George was the best, but the narrator does them all extremely well.
Killing Lee Harvey
Again, its a great story. Just a little too long for me. Stephen King is always a safe bet and I am sure you will enjoy it.
