People refer to the infected as "zombies" although that's not what they really are. The word zombie implies the infected have died and reanimated. The thing is, those infected with Mad Swine, they didn't die. They're still alive; they even breathe. They're just not human anymore. No one really knows how or why it started. What we do know is that the H1N1 virus - or the damn vaccinations that everyone so anxiously lined up for hours to get - mutated in a bad way.

I wasn't sure about this book after reading some of the reviews on another site, but I am so glad I got it. The story has a good flow and the narrator does a great job. It has ample character development. The story reminded me of Day by Day. With lots of other zombie books I find myself getting mad at the characters(and Author) for making stupid decisions just to make the story move a certain direction. This story has none of those stupid decisions and I'm looking forward to the next book.

I picked this book up for a long road trip and was very entertained. I am a big fan of zombie stories and this is about zombies vs werewolves. The author does a good job of describing some very strange situations. There were a few points in the book where I had to back up and re-listen to a chapter because things seemed to skip around. Overall it was a fun book.

This is my first listen to a Jim Bernheimer book and it was great. He does an excellent job developing characters and puts together a really interesting plot. The good guys and bad guys were well thought out.
The best part of this book was the humor. The author does a great job of making you understand what the characters are going through.
The Narrator (Jeffrey Kafer) does an excellent job with all of the voices, and I would love to listen to him again.

John O'Ryan is not a god...not exactly. He is an eternal warrior destined to combat the Dark Lord through all time for dominion of the Earth. Follow him, servant of a great race, as he battles his enemy down the halls of time, from the caves of our ancestors to the final confrontation under the hammer of nuclear annihilation.

The listen was decent, but not a great story. I do not agree with some of the other reviews about this being a masterpiece. It is an OK listen, but very predictable. The book is broken into several different stories about the main guy reverse time traveling. No big surprise along the way. Each story is about the same but there are slightly different details since they are in different time periods.

Don't want to give away much of the story, but it is pretty simple. The narrator did an OK job.

In the New York Times best-seller Darth Bane: Path of Destruction, Drew Karpyshyn painted a gripping portrait of a young man’s journey from innocence to evil. That man was Darth Bane, a twisted genius whose iron will, fierce ambition, and strength in the dark side of the Force made him a natural leader among the Sith - until his radical embrace of an all-but-forgotten wisdom drove him to destroy his own order...and create it anew from the ashes.

I like Star Wars books and have listened to most of the ones on audiobooks. This book was hard to get into. I liked the first book in the series, but this one had the feeling of a filler novel. I know this is part 2 of a 3 part series, and it was written in that manner. I stopped this one about 3 hours in and listened to a different book. After I finished that one I picked this one back up and tried to give it another shot. It just couldn't keep my attention.

This is one of those books that after about 2 hours you realize you wasted a credit.

On November 22, 1963, three shots rang out in Dallas, President Kennedy died, and the world changed. What if you could change it back? In this brilliantly conceived tour de force, Stephen King - who has absorbed the social, political, and popular culture of his generation more imaginatively and thoroughly than any other writer - takes listeners on an incredible journey into the past and the possibility of altering it.

Would you consider the audio edition of 11-22-63 to be better than the print version?

Not sure. I din't read the book.

What did you like best about this story?

This is a great story. Stephen King (as always) delivers a great story, and his writing style is the best in the business. The story was a little too long for me. Part three really started to drag. I gave it 4 stars overall because it is a good story. I typically listen a few hours a day to each book, and that might now be the best way to listen to this one.
If you have a LOOONNGG road trip or can listen to it in big chunks you will probably enjoy it more.

Which character – as performed by Craig Wasson – was your favorite?

The main character George was the best, but the narrator does them all extremely well.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

    Killing Lee Harvey

    Any additional comments?

Again, its a great story. Just a little too long for me. Stephen King is always a safe bet and I am sure you will enjoy it.

Jeremy Bishop's first pulse-pounding novel is a horrific tale of post-apocalyptic terror that is one part zombie story and one part Dante's Inferno. The story asks hard questions and generates strong emotions in everyone who reads it--anger, excitement, and most of all: FEAR. This book asks the question that everyone is afraid to answer: Are you ready? Enter the mind of Jeremy Bishop if you dare. Share his nightmares. Experience the fear that shaped his life. You may never be the same.

Would you listen to TORMENT again? Why?

YES! I am listening to it again right now. This is a great story and I think it takes at least two listens to make sure you get it all.

What other book might you compare TORMENT to and why?

I have not found another book like this, but wish their were more. I have listened to almost all of the zombie books on audible and this one is completely different from them all.

These are the scariest zombies I have read/listed to. Most zombies are mindless, slow moving people that generally only get you with overpowering numbers. These are different...and harder to deal with.

What does R. C. Bray bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He does a great job of changing his voice to match the different characters.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes. I stayed up late listening one night until 2:00 just so I could find out what happened at the end. Then when it was finished I couldn't sleep because I was thinking about the ending.

Five days ago a rash of bizarre murders swept the country. Senseless. Brutal. Seemingly unconnected. A cop walked into a nursing home and unloaded his weapons on elderly and staff alike. A mass of school shootings. Prison riots of unprecedented brutality. Mind-boggling acts of violence in every state. Four Days Ago the murders increased ten-fold. Three days ago the President addressed the nation and begged for calm and peace. Two days ago the killers began to mobilize. Yesterday all the power went out. Tonight....

I didn't know what to expect with this book but it was a nice surprise. I am a huge fan of post-apocalyptic books and thought this sounded like a good listen. The book starts off quickly with action and keeps moving fast the entire time.

This is a book where the characters keep making bad decisions but thats what makes it a fun listen. Overall I am glad a picked this one up and will be picking up another one from this author.

The story was alright. The main character seems to have a problem with white conservatives. Every bad guy fits this profile and he seems to get mad whenever he comes across one.
Also the narrator drove me crazy. He makes the characters all sound like John Wayne.
