Great story and great narration. I finished this book late at night and I was so hyped up I couldn't fall asleep. I wanted more. I have really enjoyed all the books in this series but I found this story more suspenseful. I loved it.

It is hard to compare this book to another I have read because of the main character's duel nature. The Alfa Omega series by Patricia Briggs, also a great series, has a bit of this with Charles and Brother Wolf. Charles is also influenced by his Native American heritage. While they are very different in many ways, if you like Mercy Thompson and/or Alfa Omega by Patricia Briggs I bet you will like Jane Yellowrock too, but I suggest starting with book one.

I think Ms. Hvam does a great job bringing Beast to life. I just don't think I would ever have fully understood the Jane/Beast relationship without her masterful narration.

There is always a chuckle or two in a Jane Yellowrock book but this one put a lump in my throat more that once. That surprised me.

I just hope Faith Hunter will write #6 fast, fast, fast!

repetitious, funny and ok

I Love Molly Harper. I have most of her books. This is the first one that left me a bit underwhelmed. It is not a bad book. I enjoyed it, but it seems too similar in plot to her last werewolf book to me. So this would not be the first book on my recommendation list, and I do highly recommend Molly Harper to my friends.

Amanda Ronconi is the best. I always enjoy her performance.

These books are always worth a replay. I love the way the author brings historical figures to life. Caesar is very cunning and a jerk and Pompey lets other gererals fight the big battles then jumps in at the end to take all the credit. It's fun to see these giants of history in a very human way. I also love the main character and the humor woven through the story. I always seem to find something new when I replay a SPQR novel.

Almost anything by Bernard Cornwell will have a good historial plot and great action.

Yes. I like John Lee but...I really did miss Simon Vance.

Yes. The narration of Lorelei King is always a treat, She really brings to story to life. also I can drive, vacuum, cook and listen too. I Can't do any of that with the print version!

The cast of characters and the humor.

A good narrator can give a character a depth that I sometimes miss in a print version. I judge Ms. King to be a very good narrator.

When Charlie passes on a message it almost always gets me.

I enjoyed this book but it seemed to me that Charlie's constant flippancy and sarcasm became overwhelming. At times I just sort of became numb to it and missed some of the most humorous lines. It just seemed a bit heavy handed in the first half of this book. By the end of the book Charlie has a lot to think about and has maybe grown up a bit too. So I get why the author wrote it that way, it's just a little overdone.

This book transported me to Flavian Rome. I love well researched historical novels and Lindsey Davis never disappoints. Hairstyles, clothing, food, laws and customs are just a few of the topics she uses to paint a vivid picture of life at that time.

Robert Harris's Pompeii comes to mind. It takes place around the same time in history and also made me feel I was there in Pompeii.

I think he did a competent job. This is not a Falco novel. I think I expected to hear his witty, sarcastic voice at first. When I got into the story I began to enjoy the reader.

If you are looking for a historical romance this is not the book for you.

The reason I bought this book was to sample a wider group of authors. I did enjoy a few of the stories but most of those were by authors I already know and enjoy. I was disappointed.

Several of the short stories seem unfinished. Some seem to be sketchy outlines with little content while others just end as if the author gave up in the middle.

The narration was not the issue with this book.

This is a long book, 19 or 20 hours. So it is a big investment of time. I would have to say that the few good, well written stories do not make up for the rest of it.

This book was refreshingly upbeat and funny. I enjoyed it so much. It's on my top 5 book list.

So many fantasy books are all about tough, supernatural, fem fatale characters. The lead character in this book finds her new life bewildering. As she struggles to grow into her new life the reader gets to go along for the ride. It's a fun ride!

I think she really captured Jane's voice. She got the humor and sarcasm just right.

This is a laugh out loud funny book. I was in a super market listening to this book and I was laughing so much I has to shut it off.

This is a great book if you are feeling blue or just need a lift. I listened to it again a few weeks after the first time and found things I missed.

I too felt the sad and somber mood of the book. This distrustful, sad Sookie makes sense, but she is not as much fun to root for. I think this Sookie may use the gift charm to reset her life to before Bill walked into the bar, marry Sam and,( what else), live happily ever after. How about that for an ending? It will be fun to see what Ms. Harris has in store for Sookie.
