"Far More Than I Expected."
Maybe because I set my expectation too low due to some of the above reviews, which I now find extremely unfair, I really enjoyed this audiobook.
Just a little over three days after I downloaded it, today I understand substancially better the never ending conflicts in the Middle East.
I won't remember the dates and names, except those I am already familiar with and learnt even more about, I now get the big geopolitical picture.
Great source of knowledge.
"Rachel Maddow Is Rachel Maddow"
Full disclosure, I am a huge Rachel Maddow fan, I DVR her program every single night she's on. So when she announced on MSNBC that she had a book soon to be published I knew it would be a great piece of work. And it was indeed: relevancy and timeliness of topic, precision of analysis and, as always, great humor.
Only disappointment: she used too much material from his past shows on MSNBC and Air America (her radio show of the same name before she joined MSNBC), no so much regarding the topics she talked about, but with regard to the form and manner in which some stories and anecdotes were rendered. Some passage, I could tell, were literally copied and pasted from materiel from her past shows. But that's probably because I have been listening and watching too much of the Rachel Maddow Show.
"Thirty Six Hours of Love, Bravery and Tragedy."
I was already quite familiar with the story of Che Guevara when I purchased this audiobook. I have a book about him which I read once with great fascination. This audiobook is of an exceptional dimension, with new details that will make it difficult to even pause once you start listening.
"Now I know where that brilliance comes from."
Michael Moore has the body and the skull (the look, some might put it more gently) of a stupid person (not that I am more attractive than he is, frankly I know I am not). But once he opens his mouth you realize how smart a person he is.
I was always intrigued by that. This audiobook, as would a documentary on Michael Moore by Michael Moore, lifts that mystery completely.
And he is a TERRIFIC reader
"Wonderful!!!"
