  • Fifty Shades of Grey: Book One of the Fifty Shades Trilogy

    • UNABRIDGED (19 hrs and 47 mins)
    • By E. L. James
    • Narrated By Becca Battoe
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

When literature student Anastasia Steele goes to interview young entrepreneur Christian Grey, she encounters a man who is beautiful, brilliant, and intimidating. The unworldly, innocent Ana is startled to realize she wants this man and, despite his enigmatic reserve, finds she is desperate to get close to him. Unable to resist Ana’s quiet beauty, wit, and independent spirit, Grey admits he wants her, too—but on his own terms.

This book wasn???t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

No one with any expectations for a well crafted story. Which should be the demand of any reader. The story line was weak, poorly developed characters and trite writing. If I could have given it 0 stars I would.

What do you think your next listen will be?

I don't know. I will rellisten to A Discovery of Witches. Way better narrator and a story with characters less shallow.

Would you be willing to try another one of Becca Battoe???s performances?

Absolutely not. She is not a great reader of text. I felt her interpretation of the read was weak and amateur.

You didn???t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

  • The Kite Runner

    • UNABRIDGED (12 hrs and 6 mins)
    • By Khaled Hosseini
    • Narrated By Khaled Hosseini

Why we think it’s a great listen: Never before has an author’s narration of his fiction been so important to fully grasping the book’s impact and global implications. Taking us from Afghanistan in the final days of its monarchy to the present, The Kite Runner is the unforgettable story of the friendship between two boys growing up in Kabul. Their intertwined lives, and their fates, reflect the eventual tragedy of the world around them.

One of the top ten of my reads ever. And I read a lot of books. This guy missed his calling. It is hard to believe this is his first book. Don't miss this.

  • The Glass Castle

    • UNABRIDGED (11 hrs and 14 mins)
    • By Jeanette Walls
    • Narrated By Julia Gibson

This extraordinary memoir from Jeannette Walls is a stirring and distinctive story that has won tremendous critical acclaim. In a starred review, Publishers Weekly applauds the author's "fantastic storytelling knack", saying, "Walls doesn't pull her this excellent, unusual book."

    "Great Read"

I thought this book was great. I thought it interesting how much she could remember...although I know authors have the right to take some liberties. This book was a great example that the human spirit can make it out of tough circumstances. For those that thought it not believable...are you kidding? Maybe your childhood was whatever "normal" is, but there are alot of people who live lives that are hard to conceive only because you don't have the same background. To me it was pretty believable because I have experienced and seen others experience some of the same kinds of things that are written about in this book. If you are a teacher - this is a must read to remind you that you may be the only stability that some kids have!

  • Cream Puff Murder: A Hannah Swensen Mystery

    • UNABRIDGED (9 hrs and 47 mins)
    • By Joanne Fluke
    • Narrated By Suzanne Toren

Fan-adored author Joanne Fluke always satisfies the cravings of listeners who like their mysteries served with a sugary sweet confection. Hannah Swensen, like most women in Lake Eden, Minnesota, is not a fan of Ronni Ward - the man-stealing gym bunny. So when Ronni turns up lifeless in a Jacuzzi - accompanied by one of Hannah's cream puffs - the long list of suspects begins with Hannah.

    Andra says: "Cream Puff Murder"

I was looking forward to finding a new mystery series and was disappointed by what I found. Usually a reader expects to get the detective and the case in the first few chapters, but the murder doesn't even happen until the 10th chapter. Character development wasn't strong or believable. I was most interested in some of the recipes...
