It is the year 2524. Harvest is a peaceful, prosperous farming colony on the very edge of human-controlled space. But we have trespassed on holy ground, strayed into the path of an aggressive alien empire known as the Covenant. What begins as a chance encounter between an alien privateer and a human freighter catapults mankind into a struggle for its very existence.

Always looking for good sci fi on Audible. This book's got everthing I like in the genra; high tech gadgetry and theories, likeable characters (including the aliens), and storyline.

I almost didn't buy the book because I'm not a big fan of video games. But I'm glad I gave it a chance.

    I recommend it.

Seth Hubbard is a wealthy man dying of lung cancer. He trusts no one. Before he hangs himself from a sycamore tree, Hubbard leaves a new, handwritten, will. It is an act that drags his adult children, his black maid, and Jake into a conflict as riveting and dramatic as the murder trial that made Brigance one of Ford County's most notorious citizens, just three years earlier. The second will raises far more questions than it answers. Why would Hubbard leave nearly all of his fortune to his maid? Had chemotherapy and painkillers affected his ability to think clearly?

Would you try another book from John Grisham and/or Michael Beck?

Usually enjoy Grisham's novels. This was well written, but there was never much excitement in it. No real climax. Started skipping chapters hoping to get to the end, but eventually just stopped listening because I found I really didn't care what the outcome was.

The Unincorporated Man is a provocative social/political/economic novel that takes place in the future, after civilization has fallen into complete economic collapse. This reborn civilization is one in which every individual is incorporated at birth and spends many years trying to attain control over his or her own life by getting a majority of his or her own shares. Life extension has made life very long indeed.

    "neat ideas"
    Overall

By the end of the book I was really tired of hearing about the main character's struggle not to incorporate. The author's had some very original ideas, enjoyed some of the short stories that gave background to the main plot. Worth reading, but not something I'll be rereading any time soon.

Lise Adams is a young woman attempting to uncover the mystery of her father's disappearance 10 years earlier. Turk Findley is an ex-sailor and sometimes-drifter. They come together when an infall of cometary dust seeds the planet with tiny remnant Hypothetical machines. Soon, this seemingly hospitable world will become very alien indeed - as the nature of time is once again twisted, by entities unknown.

    John says: "Spin off Axis"
"not as good as the first..."
    Overall

The hypotheticals play more of a role in this book, but the author still leaves a lot of questions. It's a classic filler novel, I'm sure that the author will answer a lot more questions in the final? book.

As the story opens, Snowman is sleeping in a tree, mourning the loss of his beloved Oryx and his best friend Crake, and slowly starving to death. How did everything fall apart so quickly? Why is he left with nothing but his haunting memories? Alone except for the green-eyed Children of Crake, he explores the answers to these questions in the double journey he takes - into his own past, and back to Crake's high-tech bubble-dome, where the Paradice Project unfolded and the world came to grief.

Starts off a little disconjointed, but the two stories soon come together. Great science fiction, well written.
