For the five rock gods of Sole Regret, finding love is easy, keeping it is hard. This anthology contains the first three novellas in the One Night with Sole Regret series. In Try Me, Sole Regret's crafty drummer, Gabe "Force" Banner, seduces a straight-laced accountant before she realizes she's talking to a rock star.

    Book #1 - Try Me

The story was surprisingly fun and engaging. I like Melanie, she is a down to earth girl and really snarky! I loved her dynamic with Gage. They were super fun together and the banter was terrific.

This is a really short read but it sets things up very nicely. I am intrigued by the other bad members and what will happen to each of them. I am also really interested in the way each couples story is told in three separate parts and the other guys books interconnect. Really clever for drawing in series readers who must know what happens next, like myself!

The sexy scenes are very delicious! Oh boy, they will get you panting for relief! The second smexy section when they play with the toys is my favorite!! Man does that boy know his stuff!

    Book #2 - Tempt Me
Books like this one are the reason I am not into Rockstar Romances. I prefer a whole fantasy HEA where the couple meets and never touches anybody else. That is not generally the case in these rocker books, but that is the lifestyle they lead.

This is the second book in the series and it is a really interesting read. The characters are engaging and dynamic. The story is well written and interesting, many different levels. It is just the general Rocker lifestyle I am not into. If you are fine with less than faithful actions then you will feel differently than I do, granted he did explain he did not feel they were in a relationship.

The steam factor here is off the charts! Loads of hot and smexy action. I mean they had tons of sex and there was plenty of variety. Good lord they must be chaffed! This is the majority of the book and when I say it is hot, I mean you are going to have to read this one while in the cold shower!! Wowza!

The ending will leave you hanging, but that is what Ms Cunning planned, each couple's story is broken up into three parts. The whole series looks to be 15 books long, each band member has three books and the stories interlock. The first five are the first part, books 6-10 the second parts and finally finishing up everything in books 11-15. It is a clever way to draw in an audience, even with my general dislike of the genre I will probably get hooked. I always need to know the end of the story, no matter what!

    Book #3 - Take Me
Shades has been a jerk throughout this series and it was no surprise to discover that is just who he is most of the time. Even when you have his POV, he is less than loveable, but there are girls out there who are into this kind of guy. Amanda seems really sweet and put together, one has to wonder what she sees in Shades. She is definitely thinking with her girlie parts.

Holy hot and heavy!!! I am talking steam up your ereader!!! Wow, once they decide to get it on, they get it on, big-time! Like the other books in the series most of the plot revolves around copious amounts of steamy smexy sex! This is another one you will have to change the panties after reading. Although, there is one scene where Shades shows he is even an egomaniac in bed.

The narrator, Justine O. Keef, does a great job I really liked her voice and characterizations. She is definitely a selling point in the audio version. If the other books get released on audio I could see myself picking them up, I am a curious creature and this series does a terrific job of drawing you in, even when you are fighting the whole way!

I stumbled on the First Brothers Sinister book while looking for books narrated by Rosalyn Landor and enjoyed it, so when this book released, I bought it. I was floored. The characters touched me in ways I didn't expect. If you read romance, you know pretty early on in a book who ends up with who -- it is just a surprise to follow the lead characters' journey. The journey for Jane and Oliver was rough and rocky. They have struggled throughout their lives to be accepted and to fit in, and feel that following their hearts will make their struggles meaningless. Reading about how they come to terms with what is really right for them -- not giving up their dreams, but redefining their dreams -- was moving and touching and just plain lovely. I read a good part of this book while on the train commuting to/from work, and had a hard time hiding my red weepy eyes. I believe this is a fabulous book and I expect it will be one I will listen to again and again.

Phillip Neville and Jonathan Overton have been best friends since childhood. When they return to England as veterans of the Napoleonic Wars, they enter the marriage market. It doesn't take long for them both to fall deeply in love with shy, awkward, beautiful Maggie Trueheart. Phillip and Maggie marry, but Phillip and Jonathan do not tell her about the menage-a-trois marriage the two men hope to have. When Maggie finds out, it takes the persuasive power of both men to convince her that this threesome was meant to be.

    Story

Samantha Kane has developed a theme where young men form staunch friendships during the appaling war years and then have a desire to share the same woman under the one roof. It is a persuasive ploy to introduce menage relationships but why set it in another century? If the date were not stated one would assume by the way the characters speak and behave that the story was set in the present day.

"Love Under Siege" introduces two friends, Phillip and Jonathan , both of whom covet the same woman, Maggie. Jonathan backs out from persuing her, allowing his best friend to marry her instead, but their most arduous desire is to share her and live as a threesome. All this is concocted behind Mary's back who is innocent and green in the art of lovemaking. Jonathan grows weary of waiting and urges his friend to make haste with Maggie's progress in the bedroom as his desires are raging beyond control! Peter is more than eager to oblige, wishing to relive the experience of sharing a woman with the friend he now lusts over.

Thus begins a not so delicate seduction with the two men appearing coarse and pushy not allowing Maggie a reprieve. She is shocked by such a proposition but cannot deny the attraction she feels for them. Her reticence and qualms are laid to rest by Jonathan and Phillip whose attack on all fronts leaves no room for resistance. Maggie capitulates enjoying the advances of both men until she is attacked by someone who threatens to reveal their licentious lifestyle to society.

Ms Kane focuses primarily on the sexual relationship of the characters at the expense of character development so we are bombarded with ample sex scenes before we get to know the heroes' deeper feelings, conflicts and desires. Unfortunately, most authors of erotica contend themselves to simply telling us that the heroes love each other, period. There is no actual build up of expectation or the gut wrenching need to earn someone's love. In this case, the heroine loses all her inhibitions in record time and does not hesitate to use four letter words to express her wishes in the bedroom. In fact the overuse of this limited vocabulary that the characters love to use makes them appear atavistic, with a great emphasis on raw carnality which sadly detracts from the sensual. How about some Real Emotions?

    Story

I really enjoyed Fighting For Irish! I loved how strong of a plot it had and how Maxwell took the time to really develop her characters and show us just how multi-layered they both were. While this was a slower moving story- I felt learning the details of Kat and Aiden's pasts was imperative to the overall storyline and watching those two work through the pain of those pasts was a really strong addition to the novel.

I liked Kat's character a lot. Watching her open up to Aiden slowly but surely after a life of never trusting anyone but herself was really inspiring. Kat has literally been to hell and back, as she has experienced things in her life that no woman ever should. She still carries that weight with her, which leads her to intimacy issues with Aiden. Yet, once Aiden realizes that something traumatic has happened to her, he is completely understanding. He's not a jerk and doesn't push her to a point where she would ever feel uncomfortable with him.

Their relationship is both beautiful and incredibly raw at the same time. Because of what happened, Kat has not let a man in intimately and she really is quite innocent in her sexual encounters with Aiden. It takes a lot of trust and patience for her to open up to him, but once she does- these two's chemistry is so hot. Car sex, people. Car. Sex. Whew.

It's kind of funny to think of this huge hunk of a man having such a calming effect on her, but he does. Aiden might carry his own burdens and feel the weight of his own guilt suffocating him, but when it comes to Kat, he would do anything to protect her- from external AND internal forces. I loved Aiden's character. As I said, he carries a lot of guilt over an event that happened in his past, and he really tries to keep his distance from Kat. He is there as a favor to a good friend and to her sister- he's NOT there to fall in love with the beautiful red-haired woman. However, keeping his distance proves to be extremely difficult as Aiden gets involved in the mess Kat is desperately trying to run from. Yet, he tries to hold her at arm's length, never truly believing he is worthy of her or able to give her what she needs. Aiden is afraid to enter back into the world of fighting as he has seen what it does to him and he is so afraid of losing control. When he is fighting, something snaps and everything becomes a blur. The darkness and the adrenaline take hold and he doesn't want to be off balance again. Yet, some sacrifices must be made if he has any hope of getting Kat out of the mess she has found herself in.

I really loved how the book wrapped up and I was left feeling quite satisfied with the ending. Seeing Kat and Aiden fight for each other's happiness, love, and safety was by means one of my favorite parts of this book and I was glad they were able to confide in one another and lean on another when the other needed it. It just made their relationship so much more endearing, as they had to fight for it and not give up.

Thanks KD for a great review that peaked my interest in this book.

    Wow what a listen!
If you're looking for a great historical romance that's bordering on erotica go no further! Very well written, nice story and character development intermixed with some of the hottest scenes I've come across in this genre.

I will definitely pursue other titles by this author! I'm often disappointed when trying new authors and I come across those that are heavy on the emotion, holding hands and building relationships. You definitely won't feel that way reading this novel!

Best enjoyed when you have time to read it all in one sitting as you won't want to put it down!

This is a familiar story - very alpha male with feisty heroine. Why choose this one over all the other available? I'll give you three reasons:

    (1) the most important one, author knows how to write a good story and the characters stand out despite them being the same "types" as a lot of other books;
    (2) the book was worth time and money spent reading it; and
    (3) the relationship was hot.

Another huge plus is that although it is the first in a series (with the second book due in December 2013); happily, this book is a stand alone story with no cliff hanger ending. There are some minor editing issues but nothing to ruin the story.

Having said that the narrator ruined the book for me. I agree with Tammy comments below.

EM Eldridge, did not put her soul into this book. She did not keep my interest at all. She reads so fast it seamed like is was on high speed and very mono-toned. No expression at all. I don't think I can listen to another book she narrates.

    Story

I bought this book because of the great rating but I found this story lacking as the author really tries to pack it all in here: our heroine is a former Playboy model (yep, you heard me) who is a workout fiend with a perfect body (thanks to her "terrific DNA/genes" which she keeps mentioning over and over) and is rich and successful at her job. Our hero is a former fighter, covered in lotsa tattoos with long hair AND a piercing down there you know where under his expensive business suits. He is of course a millionaire with fancy cars, fancy houses with "minions" and a motorcycle too (are you still with me?) WOW!!! All that in one! Put your other books down! (no, sorry, he was never a rock star though) Funny bit: Our couple just can't get enough bike time in because as Nate bemoans, they always have too much stuff to take with them. Yes, because they are wealthy 20 something super yuppies-- can't have it all kids!

This book also amused me from the get go, no, not from all the sex, and there was plenty of it which I didn't mind, but from its mirror like similarities with that holy writ, "50 Shades". Let us count the ways:

-"God he smells good. Body wash and sex and Nate. It's a heady combination" -- I think that remark might just be word for word from 50 Shades!

-Nate's constant paranoia when he wakes up alone in bed that Jules has "run off and left him" ("Don't leave me again!")

-the best: Nate actually says-- "You. Are. Mine." Red Alert! You gotta be kidding me!!!

-Shopping carte blanche at Neiman Marcus (at least here our heroine LOVES fashion and shops a lot and wears nothing but Louboutins!)

-Our hero insists on calling our heroine by her formal full name when no one else does, much to her chagrin, but it becomes their thing

-HIs faded blue jeans hang low on his hips along with his bare feet, etc.

-Meals around the "breakfast bar" in his fab "thirty floor condo" (oopsie I guess she meant thirtieth floor condo, because that would be a mighty big condo)

-Cooking in his kitchen with her iPod plugged into his system.

The first person commentary on how HOT HOT HOT he is, she is, it is, is endlessly repetitive. That word and its constant overuse in books like this one have only made it an utterly powerless and hollow cliche already. And as other reviewers have noted the same "erotic" dialogue over and over of "you're so hot baby" "I need you now" "I need you inside me". hot hot Not. And by the way, why name the hero Nate when her best friend is named Nat/Natalie. Gets annoying and even confusing when Nat and Nate are having a chat...see what I mean? Phew!

I agree with many other reviewers that there is not much of a plot. What's driving this is will everyone at the office find out about their relationship as there is a no-fraternization policy. Yep, that's it. There are a few red flags-- the hot ex wife who keeps popping up, the suspicious coworker, but they don't lead to a heck of a lot.

I liked the character of Jules. She was smart and funny. And I really enjoyed her bff relationship with Natalie. And Jules's family was fun. I liked Nate but he was Impossible!! He's mostly all the tough Alpha things, but impossibly emotional and romantic and loving from the get go. Did he have a wound that drove him though? Nope. He has a blue collar type dad who owns a gym, and his mom died when Nate was 7, but that's all we get. And it's an unfortunate HUGE disappointment. So he wasn't too interesting. When he started lighting candles and getting the bathtub ready that's when I had to put the book down for a breather. It was too much-- even Jules was flipping out! Nice fantasy, but it was over the top, I was chuckling.

I knew coming into this book that Wick is darkened with a past that future relationship was just unimaginable. Frankly, I had no idea how his story will be playing out. He also had a certain bond with Venom, his best bud that I couldn't quite understand. Their relationship made me question their sexuality. I won't divulge that little information , but I can tell you that they are very close and Ven is the only one who truly knows him. I was curious on how this author was going to break this tough guy down to actually have him fall for any female.

I am happy to say that Wick's past was not as dark as I expected. I take that back, his past was dark, but Ms. Callahan didn't go into specific details , so readers didn't have to experience any of the sufferings. But she does let her readers know who Wick really is.

Wick is fierce, brave, feared , and he is respected among his comrades. What I didn't expect is that Wick, the scary dangerous grump that I know was nothing but a sweetheart. After meeting Jamison, he was nothing but mush. It was fascinating that this woman can have such power over Wick. The things Jamison did or say that made Wick smile just melted my heart.

Jamison on the other hand, was quite the opposite. She is this fragile woman who is trying her damnedest to be tough. Her decisions show's she is quite strong, but no, she is not a kick ass heroine. But that's okay because Wick is there to take care of her. I think that was the draw, Wick had that need to save her. I really enjoyed their love story.

Ms. Callahan of course didn't exclude the action and suspense that I have come to expect in this series. The warfare between the Razorbacks and Nightfury continues. Now the Razarbacks are attempting bigger and better ways to destroy humanity along with the Nightfury pack. With that said, you know that there are some battle scenes that are worth reading. There is a bit of build up for Forge which I'm hoping it's because his book is up next.

Bowen is a member of the Lycae werewolf clan. For 180 years, he has been in mourning for his dead mate. Worse than the loneliness is the guilt he carries over how she died. When she watched him change in the moonlight, Mariah of the fae was terrified. Running away in her fear, she fell over a ledge and was impaled. Bowen has lived as an empty shell ever since. A Lycae can have only one mate in his lifetime, and a male can only make children with his mate. Any dreams of having a family died with Mariah.

Every 250 years, members of every species are invited to participate in the "Talisman's Hie", a scavenger hunt that only the most powerful and ruthless beings can play to the finish. The prize for this hunt is a magic key that grants it's holder the ability to time travel twice. If Bowen can win the key, he can go back and save his mate. However, he has several competitors who want the key for themselves. One is a young witch named Mariketa.

Mariketa is prophesied to be one of the "Queens" of witchcraft. At only 23 years of age, she has not yet mastered her powers. While her species waits to see how her powers unfold, Mari wants to prove that she is worth their wait. Winning the Hie is the perfect opportunity. She is holding her own in the hunt until Bowen traps her in a cave. Believing her to be a powerful witch, Bowen is sure Mari will soon free herself. Trapping her will only give him a head-start to the next round. As he drops a boulder over the cave's only exit, Mari throws one of her few successful spells at him. Bowen doesn't realize that he has trapped her for weeks with 6 undead incubi.

At the end of the Hie, Bowen is one of the last two competitors. He is devastated when he loses at the last second. For the past weeks, his body has been unable to heal itself. He is sure the witch put a spell on him. His body has literally fallen apart. Being immortal, his injuries can't kill him. But they have weakened him to the point that he cannot win the final round. When he gets his hands on the witch, he'll destroy her for stealing his chance to save his mate. But first he must force her to remove the spell.

Bowen is shocked to learn that Mari never escaped the cave. Something is making him desperate to save her. His need to rescue her is as keen as that of a mate. He is certain the witch enchanted him. Having already lost his mate, he knows Mari can't be the one and only chosen for him. When he finds himself desperate to free her, Bowen begins to believe she must be his mate reincarnated. After she has suffered torture at the hands of the incubi, he faces his greatest challenge in convincing her to forgive him and give him a chance to win her. While escorting her back to civilization, Bowen will hunt for her, care for her, and keep her safe from the elements. He'll do whatever it takes to impress her and make her happy. Believing he has his mate back, Bowen could not bare to lose her again. When they discover that an evil sorceress is attempting to kill Mari and steal her powers, Bowen feels utterly useless. Such evil magic is the one thing his strength cannot defeat.

Drew Evans is handsome and arrogant, he makes multimillion dollar business deals and seduces New York’s most beautiful women with just a smile. So why has he been shuttered in his apartment for seven days, miserable and depressed? He’ll tell you he has the flu. But we all know that’s not really true. Katherine Brooks is brilliant, beautiful and ambitious. When Kate is hired as the new associate at Drew’s father’s investment banking firm, every aspect of the dashing playboy’s life is thrown into a tailspin.

    Story

Drew is all that I love in a jerk hero: cocky, full of himself, brash, egotistical, too handsome for his own good, but, worst of all, he's a man-ho. And I so don't really go for that guy, not at all, even if it is fiction. I prefer jerk over womanizer any day, but this author did something magical with Drew. She really did. She made me love him, care about him, and want to see him redeem himself. And Drew does do that, in a big, sweet way. Not only do we see all the questionable sides of Drew's personality, we also see that he is charming and endearing and ultimately lovable. I think when a man like this does fall in love, he falls very hard, and that makes reading that hero's story much more enjoyable and much more romantic to me.

I loved the chemistry between Drew and his Kate. They argued, they bickered, they flirted, and it was great to read. I loved the verbal foreplay, and I was just waiting for that charming womanizer to get knocked out by love. Not only is this a sweet and sexy read, with some very sigh-worthy romantic moments, and some great groveling as well, this story is also incredibly funny, the kind of laugh-out-loud funny that makes people ask you what you're reading over there. This story is told in first-person completely from Drew's POV. I love having the male point of view in a romance, and here that is all we get, all Drew, all the time, go big or go home. He holds nothing back, no ground too sacred, no truth untold, no secret not confessed. He tells the reader everything, and it was refreshing, unique and hilarious.

I think the author did an outstanding job voicing this male character. Drew felt real, he sounded real, and he was this story, front and center. I loved him. As I read his male POV, all his tidy insights, all his guy thoughts, I laughed, I cringed, I gasped, I even agreed at times, and then I laughed some more. I lost it over the black-olive incident at Thanksgiving dinner, and the "What would William Wallace do?" speech!, and Billy roaring up in his Totally 80's T-bird; just one funny thing after another, either worthy of a chuckle or a straight-out, snorty laugh. Some of what Drew says is crude, maybe even offensive, but I mean, really, he was funny. Yes, not PC all the time, but I have to say the guy was spot on most of the time for me.

The writing is smooth but sharp, effortless and easy to read, just very clever, fresh and fun from page one. I was caught up in the story, the character, the humor, and the romance. This author perfectly balanced the rom with the com; nothing felt short-changed to me. If this is a debut book, well, I don't know what to say, except maybe, when's the next one? And will the fantastic Dee-Dee get her own story? I sure hope so. TANGLED is going right on my keeper shelf, under 'books that make me happy.' This book made me feel good, made me laugh and smile, and it made my heart feel lighter and my mood brighter. Big smile and big love for this hero and his story. This was an awesome read. Loved every minute of it!
