Graham Greene’s evocative analysis of the love of self, the love of another, and the love of God is an English classic that has been translated for the stage, the screen, and even the opera house. Academy Award-winning actor Colin Firth (The King’s Speech, A Single Man) turns in an authentic and stirring performance for this distinguished audio release.

    No way

Could you see The End of the Affair being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Miles Halter is fascinated by famous last words - and tired of his safe life at home. He leaves for boarding school to seek what the dying poet Francois Rabelais called the "Great Perhaps." Much awaits Miles at Culver Creek, including Alaska Young. Clever, funny, screwed-up, and dead sexy, Alaska will pull Miles into her labyrinth and catapult him into the Great Perhaps.

Looking for Alaska brilliantly chronicles the indelible impact one life can have on another.

From the streets of Iraq to the mountaintops of Afghanistan and to the third floor of Osama Bin Laden's compound, operator Mark Owen of the U.S. Naval Special Warfare Development Group - commonly known as SEAL Team Six - has been a part of some of the most memorable special operations in history, as well as countless missions that never made headlines. No Easy Day puts listeners alongside Owen and the other handpicked members of the 24-man team as they train for the biggest mission of their lives.

If you could sum up No Easy Day in three words, what would they be?

    Very good

What other book might you compare No Easy Day to and why?

Usually read fiction. One book about detailed mission killing is enough.

    Which scene was your favorite?

    The honest ending.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

NO. Lots of abbreviations. Talked about guns and weapons that I did not know exactly what they were talking about. But you get the idea.

    Any additional comments?

The reader was perfect. Finally an accent that I could understand. I get tired of these English readers. One Irish guy I could not understand at all and had to return the book. My favorite part was the ending where the author stated that a majority of the proceeds will go to Navy Seal charities. It was very moving how he talked about how the ordinary citizen can make a difference in this world.

No outsiders are ever admitted to the monastery of Saint-Gilbert-Entre-les-Loups, hidden deep in the wilderness of Quebec, where two dozen cloistered monks live in peace and prayer. They grow vegetables, they tend chickens, they make chocolate. And they sing. Ironically, for a community that has taken a vow of silence, the monks have become world-famous for their glorious voices, raised in ancient chants whose effect on both singer and listener is so profound it is known as “the beautiful mystery.”

Sparkly says: "Engaging, entertaining, and heartbreaking."
