"please don't sing"
Exceptionally nice reading, but, whoever advised the reader to sing at all, let alone impovise tunes should never work again. It is cringe-making and made me wish I had one of those things that skips commercials on tv to skip the perfectly awful "singing." I would have given this another star if somebody had had the good taste to just RECITE the songs.
"total fun!"
Great, fun read from a good tale-teller! I am looking forward to the next part of this story! I loved the characters and the situations and got a few nice laugh-out-loud moments.
I am kind of burned-out on vampires as characters, but this one is good. Not great literature, but worth your time and $$$$! If you enjoyed Harry Potter, you will like this!
"another waste of time and money"
see my reveiw or the sequel, "All Clear."
note to author 'Write what you know" tends to apply.
"waste of time"
I kept going with this one and it's prequel, "Blackout' just to see how she resolved her hopelessly-snarled plot. Sloppy history (she attributes a VERY famous comment by Queen Elizabeth (the present queen's mother) to Queen Mary and there are numerous other "huh?" moments. Sloppy writing and sloppy plot-crafting. I want my money back...not to mention those hours of my life! Fortunately, I usually have audiobooks going while I work, so, not a complete loss.
"another goodie"
these productions either grab you right off the bat or leave you wondering, "What the .....?" I love them. Strange, surreal and fun! well-acted, nice sound fx.
"excruciatingly bad French"
why get somebody who cannot pronounce anything French correctly to save her life to read this?
She does a good job otherwise, but the French terms and names are just excruciating to listen to. Actually set me teeth on edge.
The book is, of course, the usually great story.
Pity about the reading.
