I have listened to many, many audio books over the years and tend to gravitate to historical books. This is certainly in my top 5. Very well written and delivered on audio about a truely unbelievable story. I could not stop listening every chance I could get. The book does a great job of capturing the whole story leaving you satisfied at the end with the aftermath and conclusion. I googled the many characters in the book because you will want to see what many of them look like after listening to their stories and actions.

My only criticism is that it was not long enough. I could have listened for another 20+ hours. His life story fascinates me. I have read all his books and watched the movie and have not been disappointed once. The book gives the reader a glimse into prison life that should be enough deterrent for anyone contemplating a life of crime. Although brutal at times, there are some stories that had me laughing out loud at Chopper's retelling of the event. It is short at just over 5 hours, but absorbing from beginning to end. If you enjoy this subject matter, this is a must listen!

I loved "Under and Alone" and was hoping that I would get more of that with this book, but it was not to be. One of the reviewers mentioned that the author was totally full of himself and the plot lingered on with meaningless commentary. Having not listened to the book yet, I thought that this review had to be harsh and I gave it a try. The review was totally right on. Some of the egotistical comments almost made me stop listening and move on to something else. I hung on and must say it was a disappointing ride. No doubt, what he and his fellow agents did to infiltrate the Hells Angels was extremely brave and commendable, but the book itself is totally lacking anything of substance to keep your interest. One or two chapters could have covered it.

I kept seeing all the press about Gillian Flynn's "Gone Girl", so I thought I would start with one of earlier works. Wow. I was totally engrossd from the very beginning. What I like most is the way that Flynn weaves the past and present with each character keeping you guessing throughout the entire book.

Although I was engaged by all the characters, I think Ben's story was most memorable. I kept trying to figure out his actions and the motives behind them.

Without giving away too much, it was the revelation of the "who, why and how" of the murders. Caught me by surprise and that doesnt happen often.

The ending was climactic and satisfying.

I cant wait to move on to "Sharp Objects" and then "Gone Girl". Gillian Flynn totally grabbed my interest in her work with "Dark Places".

I have been a huge Rod fan since for many years and was very excited when I saw this come out. This is a great bio from a great performer, but the humor in the book was outstanding. I found myself literally laughing out loud in my car at various points in the audio.

I flet like it was Rod's voice throughout the entire listen. Exceptional narration.

YES - once again, it has so much humor in it that I couldnt wait to hear Rod's next story or just his presentation of the event. Some of it was not so much the event itself, as it was his take on it. The book also comments on other British bands that were just getting started such as The Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and how American singers such as Muddy Waters influenced their music.

I would say that if you are a Rod Stewart fan, this would be a must. If you are not, it is still a great listen. Getting a first hand look at the British invasion groups and the great story behind it is great.

I could not put this listen down. There is so much more here than just the Kennedy assasination - I felt like I was back in 1958 and not sure I wanted the book to come back to the present. I agree with one reader who said that he wishes he hadn't given out some other 5 star reviews because, compared to this, they didnt quite measure up. Craig Wasson's narration is great as well. Perhaps a movie in the making?

After listening to this book, I am very surprised that the "real" story has not been told at the theater. The Warren Beatty movie is not as exciting at the true story. I can only think that they did not have enough of the facts presented in this book at the time. Very well written and the narrative was very good as well.
