Nick Stone, ex-SAS, now with British Intelligence, discovers the seemingly sensless murders of fellow SAS soldier Kev Brown and his family in Washington, D.C. Only Kelly, seven-years-old, has survived, and immediately the two of them are on the run from unidentified pursuers.

Good book on it's own but even better lead into his next book "Last Light". McNab is a no fluf author and brings a lot of his life experience into his writing. I recommend following both books up with "Firewall", a personal favorite of mine. I only wish Audible would get the rest of McNab's work.

America faces a full-scale socioeconomic collapse in the near future. The stock market plummets, hyperinflation cripples commerce and the mounting crisis passes the tipping point. Practically overnight, the fragile chains of supply and high-technology infrastructure fall, and wholesale rioting and looting grip every major city.

I admit to being a closet prepper. That said, I enjoyed this book as both a good story and a "how to" guide to good prepper planning and technique.
I found it a bit dry at times and the characters could have used more depth, but in my opinion, the permise of this story is so possible, I believe it to be a likely outcome of our countries current financial situation. After reading this, you'll see the nightly news in a whole new light and hopefully consider some preparations of your own.
I think the author for his well researched information placed so neatly within an entertaining story.

At his most desperate moment, Ethan Saunders is recruited to find his ex-fiancée's missing husband. Meanwhile, Joan Maycott and her Revolutionary War veteran husband distill whiskey on the western Pennsylvania frontier. As their causes intertwine, Joan and Saunders - both patriots in their own way - find themselves on opposing sides of a daring scheme that will forever change their lives and their new country.

    Story

Very well written and expertly read.
The story intertwines like old ivy, holding you firmly in anticipation of when and how these two timelines will join. The character development is rich and full and the many voices and attitudes of the narrator pull you gently back in time.
The language is at times harsh and vulgar, but such were the times and never seemed inappropriate. Liss effectively shows the prejudice of our forefathers in gender, race and culture, while the brilliance of the characters clearly shows ignorance of these prejudices.
I hope never to have an enemy like Jone Maycott, and for all his unseemly flaws, I would love to buy Capt. Saunders a drink.

In The Wind Through the Keyhole, Stephen King has returned to the rich landscape of Mid-World. This story within a story within a story finds Roland Deschain, Mid-World’s last gunslinger, in his early days during the guilt-ridden year following his mother’s death. Sent by his father to investigate evidence of a murderous shape-shifter, a "skin-man", Roland takes charge of Bill Streeter, a brave but terrified boy who is the sole surviving witness to the beast’s most recent slaughter.

    Story

It's been many years since I traveled with Roland through Midworld, and I relished the chance to return.
This story ties well with the original series in place and characters, but had a slightly different feel and I say this in a good way. It came across a little more personal as we are treated to a glimpse into Roland's early childhood, his relationship with his parents, and his earliest days as a Gun Slinger.
The layers of stories within a story, blended so perfectly together, again shows the masterful writing of King. Other reviews have found his narration a bit flat, but I found it to add to the more personal feel of this story.
My sincere thanks to the author for his many years of great work and freely admit my selfish enjoyment of it all.

Already cited on the floor of Congress and discussed in the corridors of the Pentagon as a book all Americans should read, One Second After is the story of a war scenario that could become all too terrifyingly real. Based upon a real weapon - the Electro Magnetic Pulse (EMP) - which may already be in the hands of our enemies, it is a truly realistic look at the awesome power of a weapon that can destroy the entire United States.

    Story

One of the saddest and depressing books I've ever read, yet I'm glad I read it and thank the author for writing it. This book illustrates some of Americas most vulnerable weaknesses, both militarily and psychologically and our lack of preparedness for such a likely attack.
Read, learn, prepare and pray it never happens...

Enter the fantastical world of Mervyn Peake's Gormenghast Trilogy, one of the undisputed fantasy classics of all time. Novelist C.S. Lewis called Peake's books "actual additions to life; they give, like certain rare dreams, sensations we never had before, and enlarge our conception of the range of possible experience."

This was the first audiobook I simply could not finish. The ?Lord of the Rings? hook in the description pulled me in, but the story bored me to tears.
