Yes - fascinating history - amazing to hear how so little has changed in politics.
John Adams - information in the book came from personal letters and diaries - which the Lincoln book also includes.
It was fine. I always prefer when the author reads their own work.
Same as the book
The series is interesting and the time period and history described makes for a good read.
I like the author but some else needs to narrate.
Her cadence and breathy deliver is hard to listen to. There are emphasis where there shouldn't be and her raspy whispery voice is annoying.
The narration by Susan Duerden ruins the book. Her uplifting of every word especially at the end of sentences is annoying beyond belief. The main character's voice varies all over the place from high pitch school girl to dusky barmaid. Her Churchill is awful. Her German accent is comical. I see she is narrating the third book - so I won't buy it. Disappointing to start a series and not continue because the narration is so awful. I'm sure in other settings her narration works better but it is distracting and annoying with this material.
Possibly -with a differnt narrator.
Some one else reading it. The first book's narrator was very good. Not sure why they switched to some one else.
I love to read series books - so this one looked promising. I have tried to hang in there in hopes that things will pick up and I'll actually care about the characters, but it's just not happening. Each characater is a cliche. Their interactions with each other are either unpleasant or overly predictable. The description of the village is rehashed from other books. I had to give up and move on to another read before I drove my car off the road due to falling asleep from boredom. Very disappointing.
Michael Page read as well as could be expected with the material he had to read.
I liked the housekeeper.
The barking radio voice reading of this book was so annoying I couldn't get past the first 2 chapters.
The premise of the book sounded interesting but it was ruined by some need to try and bring a 1930's radio cadence to the reading. I kept hoping the story would just get read but it continued to bark at me. I guess there was a reason it was only $8 bucks.
This book was written to justify goverment spying and the military industrial complex. It glorifies killing and justifies profiling. If you like the descriptions of guns and how to use them this is the book for you. The characters were poorly developed and killed off at random. I'm sure there are folks out there that will enjoy the action packed pace of this book, but don't read it for character depth or a positive message. I love series books but I won't read anymore Ben Coes stories. Just not my cup of tea.
Yes. It was a fun read with all the characters in place. It is wonderful to read this series and watch Flavia grow up.
I wouldn't say edge of my seat, but I really wasn't sure who did it until the end.
Flavia of course.
The ending was stunning. Can't wait until the next one comes out.
Hurry Hurry Hurry Mr. Bradley - don't keep us waiting too long for the next one.
If you enjoy listening to stories about animals you will enjoy this book. I learned more about elephants and their struggles to survive.
Learning about how the elephants interact with each other - the family dynamic.
Nice voice and he read the book like he'd lived the situations.
Maybe not. His description about the challenges he faced succeeding in a tough industry were interesting. I was not terribly impressed with how he handled some of his personal struggles though.
Marcus has a smooth voice and a nice rhythim to his reading.
Better writing and an original thought.
It is boring and poorly written.
The reader did the best they could with the material given.
I can't remember any of them because they were all so uninteresting.
Nah - I will know better next time not to buy anymore Danielle Steel. Can I get my money back?
