"Disappoinment"
Actually I don't know. It seems like the author has a tendency to repeat herself.
The lack of warmth and genuine passion which I found in the Crossfire novels. Also that the author repeat both story and replicas from the Crossfire novels!
It's too theatrical. The characters sounds foolish.
All of them...
I listened to the end of the book, but now I will delete it from my library.
On the other hand, I will start over again with Bared to you...!
"Endless lists.."
I think that a person who is really interested in zoological science, "how to survive" questions, and religion might think this book is a good one.
I actually don't know which genre it belongs to, but I am quite sure about that it's this special book I don't like.
If a book has several different characters it's of course an advantage if the reader distinguish between them by different dialects and voices. This book however has only one main character, Pi, and it's completely unnecessary to try to use the special indian pronouncement for him. It only makes Pi sound like a fool!
Also it's obvious that Jeff Woodman has to think so much about the pronunciation that he miss the meaning of the sentence and makes everything sound theatrical!
Definitely disappointment! I have read so many admiring comments about this book, but as I see it, the book hadn't been anything without it's endless descriptions of animal behavior, different religions and survival equipment. If you remove these from the book, there had been nothing left! No interesting dialogues, no poetry, no feelings...
And when Pi sometimes says something in his loneliness it's mostly long theatrical declamations. Actually this book contains too many and to complicated philosophical discussions and solutions too belong to a sixteen year old boy. Pi's correct age should be at least 40!
The introduction of the book is definitely very much too long and the breaks of contemporary descriptions made me loose interest for continued listening. I forced myself to listen to the whole book hoping for the interesting part to come soon, but no...
