It’s a captivating story, hard to put down, but it’s also extremely rough. The dreadful & immoral element of man is pervasive in nearly every character, I felt dirty like I needed to clean my mind of the filth, however it’s very well written, and intriguing.
Would at times hold my attention, however most of the time my attention was elsewhere. There were really good moments in the story, just not enough of them.
Better than I thought it would be. I would put this in a category of mindless fun. Doesn't require a lot of attention.
It's an ok story, but far from great. The sub-plots seemed forced, the characters aren't well developed. I never felt close to any of them. The story is choppy and lacks flow. I wouldn't necessarily recommend it, but if you need help fallen asleep it just might help.
I wish I had never read the book because I'm a huge Micheal Lewis fan! I happen to work in the industry and I have first hand knowledge of what he's discussing, so when I say inaccurate, I'm referring to the entire book. Example: When Lewis tell his story of flash quotes and how it was providing a huge advantage to high frequency traders, and that everyone was getting screwed, it really gets you mad and fired up right? The only problem with the story is, flash quotes were never allow in the market, because it was never approved. It was discussed and quickly shot down, however when Lewis tells the story its as though it was happening in the market everyday and everyone was getting the shaft, but it wasn't true and no one got screwed, because it never happened! The book is full of stories like this and when I say full of stories, I mean the whole book is inaccurate just like my example. Now I question the accuracy of all the other books I've read by Micheal Lewis. In my case, ignorance was bliss.
If you like to watch paint dry, then give it a try. Besides being slow and mostly boring, the narration was incredible, possible the best I've heard.
I wasn't expecting much, however it was surprisingly good book, and provided some insight to a Germans perspective.
There isn't a better sci-fi book out there and I love sci-fi. This is possible my single favorite book.
You have to get past the first two hours as they are a bit slow. I almost quit several times but I stayed with it and it was so worth it.
This is a top 3 series for me, and I can’t get enough. This book is better than the first if you can believe it. I’m looking forward to book 3.
Not as good as the first book, but still decent. I was hoping for something a little more exciting.
