"Awesome Book for Adults and Teens!"
Gena has another great hit! Even though this book is marketed to teens, adults will enjoy it as well. Gena did a great job developing the characters. Alice's best friend Kat is fun and kind, and the boyfriend Cole is hot and a great guy. She really captured high school kids and their characters. The book has a lot of emotion in it - sadness from loss, laughter and love. The book is appropriate for teens (unlike her adult books). I can't wait for the next book in the series!
"Average Romance, But Good Twists"
I loved this Scoundrels series, but this was my least favorite book in the series. It was harder to get into the characters - it took too long for the story to "ramp-up." I was really looking forward to James' story, but I could not get excited about the romance between James and Emma. Even thought their romance was average, the the story itself was very well written, and it had some great twists that the reader would never figure out, so in that respect, it was an interesting read/listen. If you have not read the other books in the series, I would say pass on this one. If you have read the other books, this one is interesting but not very romantic.
"Fun Series with A Strong, Kick-Ass Female!"
This is a fun series, and I really love the heronie Kat - she is half human, half vampire. She is a strong female; she is out to kick evil vampire ass, and you just love her. She finds a great love interest in a very hot, sexy vampire named Bones. This is the first book in a series, and I can't wait to listen to the next book. This book was light, fun and interesting. The narrator, Tavia Gilbert is really good, even though I wish Bones' accent was not quite so low-class English. I think it takes a bit away from Bones' sexy character, but otherwise, the narrator has great timing and delivery, and she really makes the characters come alive!
"Good, But Weakest Book in Series"
This is book 3 in the Scoundrels series, and it was my least favorite in the series, but still, good. I was not sure if I would like Sterling in this book, as he was a jerk in book 2. Sterling started off pompous in this book as well, but once you understood his issue (he was going blind - not a spoiler), I begin to warm up to him. I did get frustrated that Sterling was so hung up on title and social standing - it took something away for the book. Frannie is great - really too good for Sterling, even thought her social standing was lower. The ending of this book is excellent and the epilogue was wonderful. It really ended the book on a high note. The narrator is excellent. I'm really looking forward to book 4, as the hero Swinder seems great in the prior books!
"Good Book 2 in the Series"
This is book 2 in the Scoundrels series, and I enjoyed it, but the romance between Jack and Olivia started a bit slow. At first, Jack and Olivia were really mean to each other, which was a bit annoying, but the book picked up speed and captured my attention. The book did have some good twists, and Lorraine Heath is a talented author. There are some dark, evil aspects in the story, especially in Jack's background, but it made you understand Jack and his personality. The narrator is really good, and she also read book 1, which is nice for consistency. Overall, I am enjoying this series and I am looking forward to book 3.
"Reseph Rocks - Excelllent Series End!"
I'm sad the series has ended - the Lords of Deliverance series was one of my favorites - just awesome! In this book, I was not sure that I would like Reseph, as he was an evil jerk in the prior 3 books, but Larissa Ione is brilliant and she turned him into a delicious, charming, totally hot hero. The twists in the book are unpredictible - I could not stop listening!
If you are new to this series, you really must read them in order. The story is so complex with lots of characters/history, that you really need to read the prior ones to fully enjoy this book. All the books are worth the credit. I can't emphasize enough how good an author Larissa Ione is - she creates a world that is unique, interesting, complex, passionate - she is one of my favorite authors.
The only downside - the narrator Erin Bennett. She is rather boring, which is unfortunate, but this book is so excellent that you can overcome the poor narration.
"Book 3 Rocks, But Not the Narrator!"
This is Book 3 in the Series, and its just as good as the others - interesting, complex, unpredictable - everything a book should be and more! Larissa Ione is really an amazing author, and the Lords of Deliverance series is just brilliant. The heronie, Regan, is a bass-ass women, even while pregnant - you just love her. Thanatos is not the typical hero - he is covered in tatoos and has a dark edge, but he is very compelling and attractive.
The only downside is the narrator. UGH! I don't know why they changed the narrator in the middle of the series, but Erin Bennett was a bad choice. It was hard to tell what character she was doing, and I found her to be very boring. She is also the narrator for Rogue Rider - the last book in the series - which makes me angry. I had to talk myself into listening to it, but I really love, love this series, so I will suffer the bad narrator, again.
"Excellent Book; Weak Narrator"
I loved this book. It had a great story line, great chemistry and lots of passion between the sea capitan (and nobleman) Lord Tristan and Lady Anne. Lord Tristan is very compelling and mysterious with a tortured past, and Lady Anne is a strong and determined female character, especailly for that time in history. The only downside is the weak narrator. She made Lord Tristan sound board and arrogant and all her other male characters sounded like silly nim-wits. Her voice is too soft and monitone, and I found my self turning up the volume frequently to hear her. Disappointing, as the book is really excellent.
This is the second book in the series, but the first is not yet on Audible. You don't need to read the first book to enjoy this one, but it would be nice if Audbile gets it - BUT with a different narrator!
"Book 2 Keeps You Hooked!"
Larissa Ione is a great, creative author. This series is excellent - and book 2 is just as good as the first. The story is complex, exciting, unpredictible and passionate. Arik, the hero, literally goes through hell for Limos, the only female horseman of the apocalypse. I really like Limos - she is a tough, dangerous woman. The narrator - Hillary Huber - is excellent.
For those new to Larissa Ione, she is not for everyone. If you are squeemish on violence, this series is not for you. I also think it is important to read the first book in the series to really, fully enjoy this book. Also, if you read the Demonica series, you will enjoy this series even more, as you will know the back story on a number of characters. You do have to pay attention, as the characters and sub-plots are complex, but it all works great together.
"Awesome Book, Excellent Narrator!"
This was my first book from Maya Banks, and she is a very talented author. I'm totally hooked. The reviews are correct - this book rocks! Ms. Banks does a great job developing very interesting characters. The heroine, Eveline, is a deaf, strong, intelligent woman who I just loved, and Graeme, the hero, is a wonderful, rugged, almost perfect man. The comination of the characters made for a wondeful romance. The narrator, Kirsten Potter, is aboslutely superb - she is one of the best female narrators I've listed to. I can't wait to listen to the next book in the series!
"Average Story - Not Enough Romance"
This is a strange modern day but paranormal series from Janet. It seems to have potential, but it keeps falling short. Its hard to get into the characters or to feel any passion between them. There is very little romance - it is like Lizzy and Diesel are just freiends who seem to want more but can't seem to make it work. I have not given up on the series yet, because one of the characters - Wolf - seems to have some promise. The next book will need to wow me in order to continue.
