The rules for living in the real world have changed, because the world we live in has changed. Much of the conventional wisdom the last generation has passed on just doesn't apply like it once did. If you want to win, and win big, and, more importantly, keep what you work so hard for, you need a crystal-clear view of how the real world works - not how you wish it worked, but how it actually works.

I REALLY think this is a great book. I think EVERY woman (especially Southern) should read it, since we are taught to be polite over anything else. Be polite, but DO NOT GIVE THE BENEFIT OF THE DOUBT. Very interesting points and I liked the spirit of the information. Highly recommended. Even though I think he mentions it WAY TOO much on his show.

After traveling through time in Shadow of Night, the second book in Deborah Harkness's enchanting series, historian and witch Diana Bishop and vampire scientist Matthew Clairmont return to the present to face new crises and old enemies. At Matthew's ancestral home at Sept-Tours, they reunite with the cast of characters from A Discovery of Witches - with one significant exception. But the real threat to their future has yet to be revealed, and when it is, the search for Ashmole 782 and its missing pages takes on even more urgency.

I was pleasantly surprised by book 3. There was so much going and they left us hanging on book 2. I did not want to suffer through the end of Alphas or the last episode of Lost. (nerds get it.) This really tied everything up and in a plausible way. With that, the whole series is worth a read. A new twist on the whole mystical creatures genre (vampires, witches, etc.)

Mindy Kaling has lived many lives: the obedient child of immigrant professionals, a timid chubster afraid of her own bike, a Ben Affleck–impersonating Off-Broadway performer and playwright, and, finally, a comedy writer and actress prone to starting fights with her friends and coworkers with the sentence “Can I just say one last thing about this, and then I swear I’ll shut up about it?”

You know those random thoughts that bounce around in your head? Mindy Kaling has put them down in this book and makes you laugh at them. Not just laugh, but stare at them under the microscope, so you realize that everyone has similar random thoughts and those thoughts are RIDICULOUS. None of us are as funny, dumb, fat, skinny or bright as we thought we were and we basically have no idea where we will end up. Just enjoy the ride and LAUGH.

It is Nick and Amy Dunne's fifth wedding anniversary. Presents are being wrapped and reservations are being made when Nick's clever and beautiful wife disappears from their rented McMansion on the Mississippi River. Husband-of-the-Year Nick isn't doing himself any favors with cringe-worthy daydreams. Under mounting pressure from the police and the media - as well as Amy's fiercely doting parents - the town golden boy parades an endless series of lies, deceits, and inappropriate behavior. Nick is oddly evasive, and he's definitely bitter - but is he really a killer?

You know that moment in Sixth Sense (spoiler alert) where you find out he is DEAD?! This book feels like that from beginning to the end. Every moment you are going: What?! Are you kidding me?! He/She did what?! It is a fantastic read. BUT, LITTLE BUT.....I felt really let down by the hero(ine) at the end. You just wanted to scream NO into the speakers, slap (it, no pronouns) around and say: You have GOT TO BE FREAKING KIDDING ME??!!! It was part of the twist and that is what makes the book good...

When reporter Ellen Gleeson gets a "Have You Seen This Child?" flyer in the mail, she almost throws it away. But something about it makes her look again, and her heart stops - the child in the photo is identical to her adopted son, Will. Her every instinct tells her to deny the similarity between the boys, because she knows her adoption was lawful. But she's a journalist and won't be able to stop thinking about the photo until she figures out the truth.

The moral premise of this book was interesting and thought provoking....BUT, BIG BUT....The outcome was TOO perfect. No hitches, no messes, just wrapped up in a bow and TA DA! I LOVE, LOVE happy, closed-up-tight endings, but this ending was so awesome that you expected everyone to be climbing in and out of bouncy houses and sliding down gigantic slides with glee!

It was a crime of senseless violence. On a cold night in a remote Swedish farmhouse, an elderly farmer was bludgeoned to death, his wife left to die with a noose around her neck. As if this didn't present enough problems for Ystad police inspector Kurt Wallander, the dying woman's last word, his only tangible clue, were foreign. If publicized, they could be the match that would inflame Sweden's already smoldering anti-immigrant sentiments.

Well, I had high hopes but alas...This is NO Dragon Tattoo. It was like it started as a good idea, but then he got tired of writing by the end of the book. I know that this is the first of a series, but i think a book in a series should stand on its own. I have read better.

Today is Leonard Peacock's birthday. It is also the day he hides a gun in his backpack. Because today is the day he will kill his former best friend, and then himself, with his grandfather's P-38 pistol. But first he must say good-bye to the four people who matter most to him: his Humphrey Bogart - obsessed next-door neighbor, Walt; his classmate Baback, a violin virtuoso; Lauren, the Christian homeschooler he has a crush on; and Herr Silverman, who teaches the high school's class on the Holocaust.

There isn't much fun in the sun when a billionaire real estate tycoon is found murdered on the Tilt-a-Whirl at a seedy seaside amusement park in the otherwise quiet summer tourist town of Sea Haven. John Ceepak, a former MP just back from Iraq, has just joined the Sea Haven police department. The job offer came from an old Army buddy who hoped to give Ceepak at least a summer's worth of rest and relaxation to help him forget the horrors of war. Instead, Ceepak will head up the murder investigation.

This was a great story. I love that they give you all of the clues, so you can figure it out while reading the story. Also, there is comic relief. The only reason I gave the story 4 stars was because I thought the story had some slow parts, but overall it was VERY GOOD!
