Maybe it was the Shenanigans gift certificate that put her over the edge. When children's librarian and self-professed nice girl Jane Jameson is fired by her beastly boss and handed $25 in potato skins instead of a severance check, she goes on a bender that's sure to become Half Moon Hollow legend. On her way home, she's mistaken for a deer, shot, and left for dead.

I got into these books while I was waiting for the next Dresden Book. What a hoot! If you take Twilight SERIOUSLY, don't read these books. If you can giggle at all of the goofiness that would come with werewolves and vampires, Jane (the main character) is HYSTERICAL. Totally Southern and completely unpretentious.

Nothing sucks the romance out of world travel like a boyfriend who may or may not have broken up with you in a hotel room in Brussels. Jane Jameson's sexy sire Gabriel has always been unpredictable, but the seductive, anonymous notes that await him at each stop of their international vacation, coupled with his evasive behavior over the past few months, finally push Jane onto the next flight home to Half Moon Hollow -- alone, upset, and unsure whether Gabriel just ended their relationship without actually telling her.

Once a devoted children's librarian, Jane Jameson now works at a rundown occult bookstore. Once a regular gal, she's now a vampire. And instead of a bride, she's an eternal bridesmaid -- which leads her to question where exactly her relationship with her irresistibly sexy sire, Gabriel, is headed. Mercurial, enigmatic, apparently commitment-phobic vampires are nothing if not hard to read.

Sometimes in medicine the only way to know what is truly going on in a patient is to operate, to look inside with one's own eyes. This book is exploratory surgery on medicine itself, laying bare a science not in its idealized form but as it actually is - complicated, perplexing, and profoundly human.

The rules for living in the real world have changed, because the world we live in has changed. Much of the conventional wisdom the last generation has passed on just doesn't apply like it once did. If you want to win, and win big, and, more importantly, keep what you work so hard for, you need a crystal-clear view of how the real world works - not how you wish it worked, but how it actually works.

I REALLY think this is a great book. I think EVERY woman (especially Southern) should read it, since we are taught to be polite over anything else. Be polite, but DO NOT GIVE THE BENEFIT OF THE DOUBT. Very interesting points and I liked the spirit of the information. Highly recommended. Even though I think he mentions it WAY TOO much on his show.

My mother is what I would describe a Pre-Hoarder. She is not SEVERE like the people in this book, but she could tip and head this way at any moment. I feel like I have better insite into her emotional connection with stuff, and I feel better prepared to lovingly steer her towards a path to recovery. Potentially a huge help.

There are some odd things about Nate’s new apartment. Of course, he has other things on his mind. He hates his job. He has no money in the bank. No girlfriend. No plans for the future. So while his new home isn’t perfect, it’s livable. The rent is low, the property managers are friendly, and the odd little mysteries don’t nag at him too much. At least, not until he meets Mandy, his neighbor across the hall, and notices something unusual about her apartment. And Xela’s apartment. And Tim’s. And Veek’s.

This book definitely has a little cheese, but everything is better with CHEESE. Seriously, the narrator was great. He was working hard to create all of these characters. The idea behind the conflict in the book was very creative. It you want to understand the physics of everything in this book, you are not going to like it. But, it you need something a little creepy and a little creative, it is a good pick.

We are accustomed to think of sociopaths as violent criminals, but in The Sociopath Next Door, Harvard psychologist Martha Stout reveals that a shocking 4 percent of ordinary people, one in 25, has an often undetected mental disorder, the chief symptom of which is that that person possesses no conscience. He or she has no ability whatsoever to feel shame, guilt, or remorse. One in 25 everyday Americans, therefore, is secretly a sociopath.
