When Lucy Fellowes is offered a dream house in the country she leaps at it. It's hard enough living in London on an uncertain income, but when you're widowed with two small boys it's even harder. And anyway, a rural retreat will bring her closer to Charlie, the only man in four years to make her heart beat faster. Perfect. Or it would be. If only he didn't belong to someone else.

What did you like best about A Married Man? What did you like least?

I have read or listened to almost all of alliott novels, and whilst they are always good fun and entertaining, this is most certainly not alliotts best.
The characters are as always flawed and find themselves in mildly humour situations, but this particular audiobook there is too much drama going on, too much death, so that the humour seems out of place or perhaps it is vice versa.
Stick to her books like a rural affair (the best in my opionion) or even a crowded marriage.

What does Suzy Aitchison bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

However, all story aspects set aside, suzy aitchison the narrator is as always, fantastic.
Have yet to hear anyone who is as good as her.

Following the death of her worthy liberal parents, Corlis McCrea moves back into her family's grand Reconstruction mansion in North Carolina, willed to all three siblings. Her timid younger brother has never left home. When her bullying black-sheep older brother moves into "his" house as well, it's war.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

I loved we need to talk about Kevin which is why I choose this book by the same author - and perhaps It too is a great book, but the narratation is so monotonous that I couldn't even make it through the first half.
No Character voices no pauses between conversations or even pauses between paragraphs.
    Do not waste your money

Would you ever listen to anything by Lionel Shriver again?

yes provided the narrator was different

What didn’t you like about Susan Ericksen’s performance?

    No character voices very monotonous

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from A Perfectly Good Family?

couldn't Even finish the story unfortunately
