"Very Clever & Entertaining"
I love Julia Quinn's writing! Not only is she humorous and interesting, she creates characters that you want to know and wish you knew better. Sebastian Gray is a delight, as is the heroin and many of the other characters. The story is light, fun and a joy to listen to. It's great to listen to because there isn't a lot of the vulgar description or language that I find detracts from other author's stories. The story is believable and makes the reader want to go back to the time of the ton... even just for a peak. If you enjoy a good period romance, you will very much enjoy this offering.
"A Touching Story with Wonderful Characters"
As usual, Maeve Binchy has written yet another wonderful story that encompasses some of her past characters and introduces you to new ones you'll enjoy just as much. I can't explain how she does it, but she makes every story funny, interesting and heartfelt. I've never read one of her books that I didn't feel a loss when it came to an end. This particular book takes place at a heart clinic and as usual, the story is woven through the lives of the characters. If you like Maeve Binchy, you won't be disappointed. Let's face it... are we ever? :D
It's not necessary but you may want to read Scarlett Feather and/or Night of Rain and Stars first. That way you will know many of the characters and have a more in depth background of their lives.
"Absolutely Perfect!!!"
Of all the romance novels I've listened to, this is my absolute favorite. It has everything, Great Dialog, Wonderful Characters, Lots of Humor and of course... Romance. I can't say enough about the performance and the story. I loved Olivia & Harry and Sebastian is just hysterical! This is a laugh out loud joyride. Highly Recommended!!!
"Great, but too much explicit sex for my liking"
I love the Hathaway Series! I love the characters and the stories are interesting and well developed, but, jeez there's just too much sex in this one. Every other scene Amelia and Cam are at it again! I got to the point where I'd groan "Oh man, not again!" If I'd had the ability to fast forward through these scenes I would of. Don't get me wrong, I'm not the least bit prudish, but pleeease! "Too much information!!!" I would enjoy the romance scenes more if Lisa could leave something to the imagination. How about a few scenes of dialog before "Hathaways Gone Wild" starts up again :)
I do love the story and I especially love Cam and Maripen. The addition of this aspect makes the stories so interesting that I can listen to them over and over. All the characters are wonderful and I highly recommend this book and all the other ones in this series. Lots of laughs as well as high drama. A perfect mix.
"Very Entertaining"
After the first 10 minutes, I honestly wasn't sure if I was going to like this book, but I ended up really enjoying the characters, the story and nearly everything about it. I didn't like the "bet" (don't want to spoil the story) and I thought the hero could of been much more decent and gentlemanly about that, but I ended up really liking the story and will definately listen to it again at a later date.
I especially like the stories that include humor and quirky characters. If you liked the dialog from Leo in the Hathaway Series or Sebastian in "What Happens in London", you will like this book.
"Logan Scott is a complete ass."
I love Lisa Kelypas and although this book has a good story (although somewhat implausible) and has some nice surprises, That said, I hated the character of Logan Scott so much that it basically ruined the story for me. I don't care how scarred he is, he is just so terrible to poor Madelyn that I can't imagine anyone having the patience not to tell him where to go. (At times I had a hard time listening without screaming at Madelyn to stand up for herself!) Worth a listen, but beware the ass masquerading as the hero.
The older actress who takes Madelyn in.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Rosalyn Landor! She makes all the books she reads so interesting!!! I love how she can do both male and female voices that are completely convincing!!!
I guess so
Read the Hawthorne Series and Wallflower Series. They are both WONDERFUL!!!
"Typically Agatha"
I would imagine that this was the first (and from her review... the last) Agatha Raisin mystery Jeanne from Bethesda has ever listened to. I have read or listened to nearly all of the books in this series and I found them to be lighthearted, charming and witty. While reading the first book, Quiche of Death, I was very unsure that I could warm to the character of Agatha, but eventually she does grow on you. My advice is to read the books in order, or at least read some of the few before moving on to this one. It helps to know the character's personalities, backgrounds and idiosyncrasies in order to really enjoy the story. Perhaps Agatha isn't for everyone but if you like a cozy, humorous mystery, with a flawed heroine, you will love all the Agatha Raisen Mysteries.(My favorite in this series was A R and the Haunted House. I actually laughed out loud quite a few times while reading that one.)
