Why we think it’s a great listen: Some books are meant to be read; others are meant to be heard – Water for Elephants falls into the second group, and is one of the best examples we have of how a powerful performance enhances a great story. Nonagenarian Jacob Jankowski reflects back on his wild and wondrous days with a circus. It's the Depression Era and Jacob, finding himself parentless and penniless, joins the Benzini Brothers Most Spectacular Show on Earth.

The story wasn't all sweet as some reviews have written, it had some violence that made the story more believable about the circus life and the people who worked them. The narration was superb as though you were transported into the scene as it was taking place. I think it was worth the time and credit and hope you enjoy it.

I don't know if I found the right headline word for a book that didn't excite me or was sad that it had to end. It is a sweet love story of a girl who's mother had planned her life before birth to become just like herself, a famous surgeon... but that's not what happens. The daughter, Liz /Abigail who lacked the love of her mother rebells for the first time at 16 and ends up in a situation of witnessing a Russian mob killing and then is placed in witness protection only to have her protectors killed so she escapes and goes into hiding for the next 12 years. She intrigues the handsome single sheriff of this small town where she's been recluse and they fall in love and then skillfully comes up with a way to expose all those involved with the mob killings... you get the picture.

I try to be objective and expose myself to good writers and all types of generas. I think Roberts is a good writer and if you like simple love stories with a taste of heat then this book will fill that bill!

When her four year old daughter informs her a sick man is in their yard, Honor Gillette rushes out to help him. But that "sick" man turns out to be Lee Coburn, the man accused of murdering seven people the night before. Dangerous, desperate, and armed, he promises Honor that she and her daughter won't be hurt as long as she does everything he asks. She has no choice but to accept him at his word.

I am big fan of Sandra Brown and narrator victor Slezak! It's very well written and engaging through to the end. The only reason I didn't give this a 5 star is because I figured out the "who done it" in the very last half of the book. Never the less... the characters are well developed and for the most part believable. I don't feel that it was too overly sexual or brutal. It's a story that will take you on a great ride with a loose seat belt. Enjoy!

C.J. Box’s Open Season is a rare debut mystery that “immediately sets itself apart from the crowd” (Booklist). This thrilling novel stars Joe Pickett, a game warden in Wyoming who finds his life in danger after he looks into a murder investigation and discovers a conspiracy involving an oil pipeline and its threat to an endangered species.

I enjoyed listening to this book because it was well written and well narrated. The Joe PIckett novels are easy listening and engaging. The characters are well developed and have a sense of depth to them. I wouldn't call these novels real mysteries or thrillers if that is what you are looking for. Over all, I recommend the series if your not into on the edge of your seat novels. You can sleep at night after listening to these books which is a good change sometimes for me.

I really tired to like this story but it was too disconnected for me and I love a good spy novel. The characters seems very shallow and the ending was predicable and blah! The narration wasn't bad. Don't waste your full credit on this book... wait till it's on sale if you have read the other reviews that seem more favorable.

Bravery. Honor. Sacrifice. These are more than mere words to trained Marine sniper Nathan McBride. He’s never backed away from danger and he’s not about to start now, even if it means confronting the cold-blooded interrogator who tortured him to the brink of death more than a decade ago.

It's really great when the sequel lives up to the predecessor and then surpasses it! This sequel was engaging and flowed seamlessly. If you are a Micheal Connelly fan of the Reacher series, also read by Dick Hill... this is Peterson's version of Reacher but with a tad less attitude. I also enjoy the the relationships that McBride has that show a great depth to this character. I am now a fan of Andrew Peterson's. Enjoy!

When you're the best at what you do, it's not always easy to walk away. Nathan McBride was retired. The trained Marine sniper and cover CIA operative had put the violence of his former life behind him. But not anymore. A deep-cover FBI agent has disappeared along with one ton of powerful Semtex explosive, enough to unleash a disaster of international proportions. The U.S. government has no choice but to coax Nathan out of retirement.

I don't know if I would consider this a "thriller" but rather an entertaining book well narrated by Dick Hill. It's a story of mixed intrigue involving the sins of a governmental cover up and brother's that kill for revenge. Between an FBI agent and our hero's, the two main characters who are ex-militarily snipers and long time best friends. They tactically are on hunt to eliminate these guys and resolve the threat. The content is mostly believable and I feel would be worth the credit. Enjoy!

Now, more than two years later, the station is still floundering, agents are dying, and at Langley the CIA's chiefs wonder if the unthinkable has happened, if somehow the Taliban has infiltrated the station.

This book doesn't live up to the Faithful Spy as far as intrigue and in dept believable story content. It was just alright for me. John Wells, is the Dirty Harry solider that can blend in with the insurgents and take out the bad guys even if they are Americans. The narration by George Guidall is always worth the credit. If you have read any of the other Wells saga's than you may agree with me... if you have not.... I still recommend this book if you can get it on sale.

Dave Robicheaux felt the bone-grinding pain rip through his body as the .45 did its damage. Through the agonizing haze that enveloped him, he heard an almost inhuman laugh - the hideous, victorious cackling of Jimmie Lee Boggs - a sound he would never forget. It had started out as an ordinary prisoner transfer, then turned into a blood bath when the convicted murderer got hold of a gun.

To most people, Fiona Bristow seems to have an idyllic life — a quaint house on an island off Seattle’s coast, a thriving dog-training school, and a challenging volunteer job performing canine search and rescue. Not to mention her three intensely loyal Labs. But Fiona got to this point by surviving a nightmare.

I got this book on sale and it's no wonder it was.... because I could not even finish it! I have enjoyed other books by Roberts, but this one was just plain boring. The narration was irritating as well. I wonder if Audible will give me back a credit just for suffering as long as I did through the first half of this book and you'll probably bury this review on the last page but you would be doing your good customers (like me) a big favor if you didn't!

After reading a good handful of well written reviews, I still didn't realize the impact that this story would have. I found myself listening for hours even while I was brushing my teeth and putting my makeup on! There were places where it tended to be over the top but for the most part, this apocalyptic book is a very interesting and entertaining listen. I hope what happens to our world in this book will never depict our end times but it's good to know that good will triumph over evil. The narration was excellent of all the characters.
