Betsy Taylor needs a job and amazingly lands the perfect one: selling designer shoes at Macy's. But the other vamps, including sexy Sinclair, don't want their queen selling shoes. And the vampire hunters are becoming a real pain, murdering innocent vampires. It seems that everyone wants something from Betsy.

A great sequel to the first book, and a lead into what promises to be a great series. Betsy was again true to her nature as the slightly-ditzy/annoying heroine, but she's lovable, and I didn't really see the plot twist at the end coming.

The story was worth listening to despite the sub-par voice acting. Most of the characters sounded the same, and it was hard to tell when Betsy was actually speaking versus making sarcastic comments to herself. I'm hoping they'll eventually get someone new to read!

Miranda Puckett has failed at every job she’s ever had. Her mother just wants her to come home, join the family law firm, and settle down with Jason, the perfect lawyer boyfriend. But when Jason turns out to be a lying cheater, Miranda seizes on a job that gets her out of town: long-distance vampire transportation. Her first assignment is to drive vampire Collin Sutherland from Washington to sleepy Half Moon Hollow without incident—no small feat for a woman whom trouble seems to follow like a faithful hound dog!

What made the experience of listening to Driving Mr. Dead the most enjoyable?

A great author and voice actor! It was also fantastic to get to know another member of the Half Moon Hollow society.

What other book might you compare Driving Mr. Dead to and why?

While this is similar to the "Care and Feeding of Stray Vampires" (Iris's book), it wasn't as well developed and didn't have as many enjoyable visits by familiar characters. Despite that, it was a good book with some hilarious parts. Miranda's stubbornness in terms of hiding things grated on my nerves at points, but I suppose it was necessary for the plot to work.

What about Amanda Ronconi’s performance did you like?

I just love her!! She does a great job with both male and female voices and handles accents very well. I never have a hard time telling who is talking!

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

And you thought a cross-country roadtrip with the family was difficult!

Iris Scanlon, Half-Moon Hollow's only daytime vampire concierge, knows more about the undead than she'd like. Running all their daylight errands - from letting in the plumber to picking up some chilled O neg - gives her a look at the not-so-glamorous side of vampire life. Her rules are strict; relationships with vamps are strictly business, not friendship - and certainly not anything else. But then she finds her newest client, Cal, poisoned on his kitchen floor, and only Iris can help.

Yay! Iris Scanlen finally gets her own book, so we get to learn a little more about the Bee Line business she runs. This was another fantastic side story in the Jane-world of Half Moon Hollow. It was great to get to see some of the more familiar characters back and to get to see Iris and her sister Gigi's relationship. It had a fantastic plot twist near the end, and I enjoyed getting to see a bit more of Ophelia. A definite must read for any Molly Harper Fans.

Will Ophelia be next? Or an Andrea or Jolene book?

Waking up in a tacky coffin and wearing off-brand shoes, Betsy Taylor can't believe the horrible turn her life has taken; then she discovers she's a vampire. Soon, Betsy becomes a participant in a power struggle between the forces of darkness. With only her friend Jessica and the hunky vampire Sinclair to help her, this new "Queen of Vampires" will have a tough time getting her afterlife straight.

I have to say I really enjoyed the first book of the Queen Betsy series. If you are a fan of Molly Harper's Jane Jameson series, this one will be up your alley as they both contain the same snarky humor and sarcastic heroines. The story was fantastic and had me continuing to listen despite the disappointing voice acting. There were lots of awkward, breathy pauses, and most of the characters sound the same. I plan on listening to the rest of the series (just finished the second book). I just hope they get a new voice actress!

When literature student Anastasia Steele goes to interview young entrepreneur Christian Grey, she encounters a man who is beautiful, brilliant, and intimidating. The unworldly, innocent Ana is startled to realize she wants this man and, despite his enigmatic reserve, finds she is desperate to get close to him. Unable to resist Ana’s quiet beauty, wit, and independent spirit, Grey admits he wants her, too—but on his own terms.

If you could sum up Fifty Shades of Grey in three words, what would they be?

    Not up to Par

There is a lot of hype about these books because of the sex and bondage. I didn't feel that it was fully focused on sex (until at least the third section, then it seemed to be a little excessive). If you're looking for real "hardcore" scenes, this doesn't actually live up the hype. I felt like a lot of the scenes equalled (and sometimes didn't measure up to) some of the scenes I've read by J.R. Ward or Jeaniene Frost.

What did you like best about this story?

Despite all of that, I think the storyline of this series is pretty good. It actually delves into some real issues people face when victims of any sort of trauma. The character development was good for the main characters, so if you take out some of the sex scenes (which were okay, but not spectacular), you have a good story underneath. That's always a good thing.

Would you be willing to try another one of Becca Battoe’s performances?

NO! She made Ana seem like a teenage rather than a 22 year old woman. I did get used to her voice (thankfully), but I thought the voice acting was terrible. I was extremely disappointed to see her reading the other books as well.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No. It was good, but it won't become one of my favorites

Would you try another book from the authors and/or the narrators?

    Absolutely not.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Disappointment. I was very unhappy with the story.

    Any additional comments?

I only listened to the first couple hours. I was so disappointed with the book that I never finished it. I wish that I had been able to return it.
