The New York Museum of Natural History receives their pilfered gem collection back, ground down to dust. Diogenes, the psychotic killer who stole them in Dance of Death, is throwing down the gauntlet to both the city and to his brother, FBI Agent Pendergast, who is currently incarcerated in a maximum security prison.

Like other readers, I was unaware of this being the third in a series until I had finished it, and was advised in the epilog of the best order to read these. I am reading #2 at this moment, and while I know where it goes in the future, it is still good to fill in the blanks. Very well written.
An advisor in the initial book summary would steer readers to have these poresented in a more complete manner.

Where does The Drop rank among all the audiobooks you???ve listened to so far?

This is not the best Michael Connelly, but it is a good one. The book itself belongs in one fo the top ten.

What did you like best about this story?

The irony of the plot, and the hidden agendas used by the people at the top.

What does Len Cariou bring to the story that you wouldn???t experience if you just read the book?

Len adds a pacing to the narration that would enable one to readit faster, but he does a great job of getting the story across.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, but that was not possible.

    Any additional comments?

It.s a shame about the split between Harry and Kiz, because they were good together. The career paths they chose ultimately forced their positions, making them no longer compatible. The price of politics.
Michael gave a glimmer of this in the last Bosch novel, and when this happened, it was not a complete shock.
