Great narration and interesting story line. If you love British mysteries, this is a good one.
I have listened to all of the 6 books in this series and I have struggled with this one because of the narrator. I have looked forward to all of the books, but have been so put off by this reader, I had difficulty finishing this one. I hope future books return to previous readers, or at least change from this one or I will skip the audio book and read it myself. The story line is great, I love the WWII setting. These novels are a must for another perspective on WWII.
I enjoy the English reader, she does a good job with this book. Nice change of pace. The story is the thinking kind of mystery with enough colorful characters and interesting English countryside to hold your interest through a relatively long book.
The story was great, kept my attention and was an interesting topic. One thing drove me crazy. I grew up in central Illinois and Tuscola is pronounced Tus-co’-la, with a short u and a long o. I know this is a small thing, but so are fingernails on blackboards. If you are going to read a book with so many references to a town, please call the city hall and find out how people pronounce the city's name! It really hurt my enjoyment in the book. If you never heard of the town, I am sure you couldn't care less and the book was great.
Each of Hart's books is different and well done. I live close to his hometown and that is why I read his first novel. After that one, I came back for the excellent writing, tight plots and characters who are hard to forget.
Narration was not enjoyable. Intonation too flat, difficult to listen to for long. Story was disjointed, difficult to follow.
Great historical references, but left a little to be desired in plot
Didn't want to stop listening, fast moving, many twists, great book
Easy to listen to, exciting and interesting plot
Good read, not high fiction, but a fun listen.
