Sixth grader Greg Heffley doesn't understand his annoying younger brother, obnoxious older one, or well-meaning parents. But he knows enough to record his daily thoughts in a manly journal - not some girly diary. In a unique novel brimming with laugh-out-loud moments, Greg chronicles his first turbulent year of middle school.

Catherine says: "You need the cartoons!"
"The book is good; the reader...not so much."

My kids and I listened to this book and the reader just didn't capture the essence of the story. Zooey Mamma!!

Join the Army and See the Universe. That is the motto of The Third Space War, also known as The First Interstellar War, but most commonly as The Bug War. In one of Robert Heinlein's most controversial best sellers, a recruit of the future goes through the toughest boot camp in the universe - and into battle with the Terrain Mobile Infantry against mankind's most alarming enemy.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

I would not say it wasn't for me: I just liked the movie (the first one) and hoped it was an expanded version. It is not.

Has Starship Troopers turned you off from other books in this genre?

    No!

Did Lloyd James do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

    Yes. He is a pro.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

The story is good enough, I was more disappointed then no in love.

    Any additional comments?

If you are into sci-fi it is a "have to" read. I enjoyed it moderately, I just wanted something different from what I got.

The Overlords appeared suddenly over every city - intellectually, technologically, and militarily superior to humankind. Benevolent, they made few demands: unify earth, eliminate poverty, and end war. With little rebellion, humankind agreed, and a golden age began.

Clarke captures the imagination with a premis that has plenty of surprises. This book is what I like to call a philosophical science fiction - it challenges you to think beyond "what if" and opens your mind to the possibilities that lie in the realm of "if only".

Is it possible to Reach your genetic potential in 6 months? Sleep 2 hours per day and perform better? Lose more fat than a marathoner by bingeing? Yes, and much more.

Joshua says: "I knew this was abridged, but......."
"Just not as good as his first book."

Alright, it has some fabulous information in it; but I expected more. It feels like he is running out of money and decided to write a book just to cover the expenses of being NR.

  • The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

    F. Scott Fitzgerald wrote many wonderful romantic and realistic short stories and a few incredible "on the edge" fantasy and supernatural stories. Although the story of "Benjamin Button" is quite different than the 2009 movie, the premise is the same - a man is born old and lives his life backwards! Fizgerald says he got the idea from Mark Twain's remark that it was a pity that the best part of life came at the beginning and the worst part at the end.

    Edward says: "Great story"
    "It passed some time..."
    Overall

I listen to books as I drive and while this book did pass the time it was fairly boring.

Dance like there's no one watching. The Bible clearly shows that we have been uniquely created for a purposeful life, but it's not meant to be about us, or our career, or our fame. It's all about God, and His glory. That's the purpose of Chris Tomlin's first book: to get you to think of yourself as one of God's fame builders.

    Willem says: "Discovering Worship"
    "Will change your life!"

It is no wonder why Chris Thomlin's songs touch the heart of God and the heart of the one who sings them. This raw look at self will leave you longing for a closer walk with God.

Who's Looking Out for You? is a book that boldly confronts our worst fears and biggest problems in a post-9/11, post-corporate-meltdown world. Its sage, candid advice on regaining control and trust in these troubled times will resonate with the millions of readers and viewers who have come to believe in Bill O'Reilly as the man who speaks for them.

This book is one of the best books I have ever read. It will challenge you to your core, making you question how well you really care for others or how well they care for you.
