Landover was a genuine magic kingdom, with fairy folk and wizardry, just as the advertisement promised. But after he purchased it, Ben Holiday learned that there were a few details the ad had failed to mention.

The kingdom was in ruin. The Barons refused to recognize the king, and the peasants were without hope.

This book is not a heavy intellectual thinker. It is a fun romp through an escape from reality into a different life. I wouldn't recommend listening with young children as the language is a little course but it is a nice break from reality and the characters are not children taking on impossible feats against more experienced adults.

When the British Secret Service asks them to take over the International Detective Agency—a suspected Bolshevik spy information drop—Tommy and Tuppence jump at the chance. Told to watch for "blue letters with a Russian stamp" and visitors mentioning the number "16," they nonetheless have time for a variety of cases as they pose as the agency’s director and secretary.

What made the experience of listening to Partners in Crime the most enjoyable?

The dialogue between Tommy and Tuppence is very amusing. It is also fun to hear A. C. do a take on several fictional detectives including her own.

    Any additional comments?

The Tommy and Tuppence mysteries are lighthearted tales that are fun to listen to. The don't take themselves seriously and are fairly quick paced.

Sam Vimes is on a well-deserved holiday. But for the commander of the City Watch, a vacation in the country is anything but relaxing. The balls, the teas, the muck - not to mention all that fresh air and birdsong - are more than a bit taxing on a cynical city-born and -bred copper. Yet a policeman will find a crime anywhere if he decides to look hard enough, and it’s not long before a body is discovered, and Sam - out of his jurisdiction, out of his element, and out of bacon sandwiches (thanks to his well-meaning wife) - must rely on his instincts, guile, and street smarts to see justice done.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Nope wouldn't recommend it because it is one of the disc world books with strong profanity in it and it pops up several times. I really like Pratchett and his characters but I think it is time for him to stop. The book just wasn't as tidy as his previous ones and some things were put in just to have a cameo without any real relevance to the story.

Would you be willing to try another book from Terry Pratchett? Why or why not?

Yes I like many of his books and don't have them all.

What does Stephen Briggs bring to the story that you wouldn???t experience if you just read the book?

His personal voices for the characters and inflections on the narration.

Was Snuff worth the listening time?

I guess it was all right but if this was the first T. P. book I had ever encountered I would probably have stopped here and missed out on his other great books.

The circus arrives without warning. No announcements precede it. It is simply there, when yesterday it was not. Within the black-and-white striped canvas tents is an utterly unique experience full of breathtaking amazements. It is called Le Cirque des Rêves, and it is only open at night.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I wouldn't listen to it again so no not well spent.

Has The Night Circus turned you off from other books in this genre?

I am not sure what genre this was trying to be so I can't say that it did.

    Which scene was your favorite?

The end because it was over. It wasn't a bad ending and the book would have been fine if the author didn't use a few graphic description of a father commanding his daughter to physically mar herself and the references on the side of a character having many encounters with people of both genders and the use of harsh profanity twice. There is also no good or evil/right or wrong just things happening that people like or don't.

Do you think The Night Circus needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

No it was all wrapped up at the end there are no unanswered questions and no dilemmas left to solve.

    Any additional comments?

I thought this was going to be something I might be able to listen to with my family from the reviews but it isn't. It deals with some mature themes and they are not alluded to anywhere in the books description. The story does drag on and the magic is never really explained it serves more as background for a romance between two people who are supposed to be enemies to the death but instead fall in love and try to find away to stay together.

Mere Christianity is C.S. Lewis' forceful and accessible doctrine of Christian belief. First heard as informal radio broadcasts and then published as three separate books, The Case for Christianity, Christian Behavior, and Beyond Personality, Mere Christianity brings together what Lewis sees as the fundamental truths of the religion.

Would you listen to Mere Christianity again? Why?

Yes it is helpful as a check on my own Christian life to remember what I am supposed to be and how I should focusing my mind.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Mere Christianity?

The analogy of the strip tease to an audience having the same reaction to a plate of food being revealed.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Everyone will be judged for themselves and it is important not to judge them on ourselves since we have led different lives.

    Any additional comments?

This is a good basic foundation for Christianity. If it varies greatly from what you believe Christianity should be it is defiantly time to look closely at the bible and see which is right.

This book would have been a decent one if they had cut out about half the words used. Over and over again the same material is gone over. The characters monologue themselves over actions that should take a few lines to get done. I also understand the desire to make the villains abhorrent but I wanted to skip each section they appeared in. The cannibalism, incest, and other things done are very off putting and not needed to make a bad group loathed by the reader.

This really isn't very good. I am hoping the rest of the series is better. The author's first book in this series was ok as a starter, but the writing didn't improve in this one. The over the top ability of the children to out reason the "immortal gods" is taken to far this time out.

This is a simple fun tale. My children really like the story and want to hear it again and again. I also enjoy this story and really like the narrator. She slips in and out of accents very well and it lends a nice touch to the telling.

This version of Beauty and the Beast is fine in the story part, but the narrator was the wrong choice. His voice is not one to lend itself to a female character and makes it a little hard to listen to.

Twelve-year-old Percy Jackson is about to be kicked out of boarding school...again. No matter how hard he tries, he can't seem to stay out of trouble. But can he really be expected to stand by and watch while a bully picks on his scrawny best friend? Or not defend himself against his pre-algebra teacher when she turns into a monster and tries to kill him? Of course, no one believes Percy about the monster incident; he's not even sure he believes himself.

I like the concept of the book. The opening few chapters are a little intense for young readers but the book finds its pace. It is not a brain twister but it is enjoyable. As usual with this genre I find it hard to believe a 12 year old could overcome some of the other characters but I don't pay much mind to the hero's age.
