  • The Long Tail: Why the Future of Business Is Selling Less of More

    • Narrated By Christopher Nissley

Our world is being transformed by the Internet and the near limitless choice that it provides to consumers; tomorrow's markets belong to those who can take advantage of this. The Long Tail is really about the economics of abundance, an entirely new model for business that is just starting to show its power as unlimited selection reveals new truths about what consumers want and how they want to get it.

Jim says: "Good Book, Flawed by Repition"
    "Worth the Read"
    Overall

I have been out of the USA for over five years and am now trying to "catch up" on all American business/industry related reading. I found this book one of the best broad-scope, mainstream reads so far. I may or may not agree with the author, but I enjoyed hearing what he he had to say and learned a great deal. Well worth the read.

Which is more dangerous, a gun or a swimming pool? What do schoolteachers and sumo wrestlers have in common? Why do drug dealers still live with their moms? How much do parents really matter? What kind of impact did Roe v. Wade have on violent crime?

Timothy says: "Fascinating book, despite the title."
    "Interesting, but a bit forgettable"
    Overall

I know this book is all the rage, and I do agree that it is very readable and interesting; however, for reasons indefinable, after reading it, I found it forgettable. Although I listened to every word and even replayed a few sections, I was prone to forget the book immediately after reading it. Why? Perhaps it is just not that crucial or important as other non-fiction reads. Interesting and fun to read, but don’t expect to go away with anything life-changing.
