I would be willing to recommend this book to anyone who reads fiction. I had no interest in the vampire genre at all until I read a book by Jeanne C. Stein. She is the one who got me interested in the genre and her books are still the best.

Dina Pearlman has read all the books in this series and it is clear that she is getting a better grip on the characters in each new book. This is her best yet.

This series may not have many installments to go and that is a real shame.

While the audio version was absolutely excellent and was as good as the print version, the print version was excellent in its own right and could in no way be call inferior to the audio version.

Mary Russell, wife of Sherlock Holmes, is having issues with her memory which is bringing problems to them both. With lives in jeopardy Sherlock Holmes enlists the help of Dashiell Hammett, the author of Sam Spade mysteries and much more.

Jenny Sterlin does her usual superb job of reading in this book. She is the best voice for the characters.

Nora Roberts a.k.a. J D Robb is a master (mistress?) of creating great characters that one likes and villains that one can hate. You can't help pulling for the heroes in their trials. You know they are going to win out, but there is still the tension that makes it feel as if they could lose. The regular cast of characters is here in all their humor, intensity and charm.

I am a huge fan of Susan Ericksen. She can find things in a reading that I might not find for myself. More of a vocal actress than a reader she really brings the characters alive with her depth of understanding of the story and characters.

Still a classic

There are still thrills in this great old book. It has been a movie for a reason. The theme is classic and it is a tightly written book that defies time.

Sometimes you need to return to the source to remember just how good it was in the beginning. L. Frank Baum's delightful tale is still wonderful and not too different from the musical movie of the Thirty's that is now the familiar version.
People are so accustomed to the Judy Garland version that we forget the original story. The biggest shock is a reminder that the ruby slippers were silver.
Anne Hathaway was absolutely superb in this reading. She acts all the characters with her flexible voice and they are clear and distinct. Additionally she does the characters in a way that will appeal to children and old children alike. I hope to hear a lot of reading from her in the future. She is a super talent.
The combination of story and performance gives this a "10" rating on almost any rating system.

I have listened to hundreds of audiobooks and "Foundation" along with "Foundation and Empire" and "Second Foundation" rank among the top, both as to the remarkable writing by Isaac Asimov, which stands up very well over half a century later, and the performance of the material by Scott Brick who does a remarkable job of bringing the characters to life.
Scott does more than read; he creates a cast of characters that act with believable motivation.
The three above mentioned books were all read by Scott and he is among the best of the vocal actors of today. Buy all three as I did and you will listen this remarkable trilogy of the collapse and rebirth of human society throughout the galaxy many times, as I will.
It is not inconceivable that George Lucas found some inspiration here.
