"Simply hilarious!"
Clever, creative, unique and a very funny listen, which had me laughing out loud from beginning to end!
"Really good"
Most books like this are fairly repetitive but this breathes new air onto the subject and overall, the writer and narrator present the material in a way that makes this title very easy to understand and follow.
"There are better books out there on this subject."
I've listened to lots of books about this subject and while I enjoyed this listen it didn't quite standout from the many other books I've listened to that were similiar to this topic.
"Impressive!"
I love the way the author narrates his own book. He does such a great way of presenting the material that it’s more like he is naturally talking to you directly and not just reading from a book. I’ve read and listened to many books on this subject but I was very impressed by this author/narrator. Just a great book on the subject... clear, concise and very easy to comprehend.
"Great excerpts and interviews, just an okay book."
The actual excerpts from Nixon himself and the real interviews, make this listen excellent and completely worth it. Otherwise, the narrator’s voice is dull and very boring and thus, that makes this a very dry listen and a little hard to follow and get my undivided attention.
"Answers all of the questions"
The book is even better than the movie and that’s saying a lot considering the movie is great. Interesting that in the book, the horse is the narrator since the story is from his point of view this makes sense and obviously would not work in a movie.
Possible Spoiler Alerts:
With that said, I love how the book answered all of the questions I had after watching the movie such as:
Unlike the movie, the father was supposed to buy a cow instead.
I hate the name of the horse, until I read that it was named Joey b/c the kid already had a horse named Zooey.
In the book, there is no mention of the father drinking because he went to war and they never had a war badge of honor that was carried around as it was throughout the movie.
Two German kids who abandoned the war because of a promise to their mother, weren’t in the book at all.
And after watching the movie, I was wondering why the Grandfather looked different at the end and in the book, it states that he looked different because it was supposed to be years later.
"Happy Thoughts Equals Laughing Reactions"
Tosh is hilarious. I love his show and I now love this audiobook, which wasn’t actually a book but was the audio recorded version of his stand-up comedy. Loved his take on baseball being a racist pastime and on the founding fathers. Very funny stuff. My only issue was that the book was too short.
"Super Funny, starting with the title itself!"
Tosh is hilarious. I love his show and I now love this audiobook, which wasn’t actually a book but was an audio recorded version of his stand up comedy.
"Something Smells Fishy"
Being a big fan of sushi, I found the most of the information in this audiobook very interesting and I loved hearing about the history of Sushi including rice, ginger, vinegar and my personal favorite, the California Roll. My only regret is that many of the names of the people and foods are hard to pronounce and thus that made the information for me very hard to remember. It’s also hard to believe that the writer spent so much time talking about Melanie Griffith’s sister.
"Not Quite What I Expected"
I love biographies but sadly, I did not enjoy this one. Don’t get me wrong there were some very interesting facts and I liked hearing about how he wrote a few of his songs. The jokes sprinkled throughout were also pretty good as were many of his rhymes and songs but for the most part, I couldn’t relate too much with this title and wouldn’t recommend it unless you are a die hard fan of either country music or Willie Nelson, which I really am not.
"Powerful!"
This is definitely a great book and the writer goes with a great angle too. We always hear about the rape and death of the Indians so, it’s a nice change up to hear about their legacy and about all of the products, foods/spices and names that they have given us. It’s definitely a positive spin from their perspective. The ending and the closing lines are also outstanding!
