The infected are subject to delirium, fever, a dramatic increase in violent behavior, and a one-hundred percent mortality rate. Death. But it doesn't end there. The victims return from death to walk the earth. When a massive military operation fails to contain the plague of the living dead it escalates into a global pandemic.

This book was very well done, a great read and what a fantastic narrator. Narration was so good in fact, I went to look up other books he's narrated! The story is compelling and the characters are so well written (and read). I moved immediately into book two when I was done.

I enjoyed this story a lot the first time I listen to it. I re listened before starting the second book and enjoyed just as much. Takes a bit of a different spin so that was fun. The female lead was not a girly heroine at all!
I hope you enjoy this book too!

Would you consider the audio edition of Unwind to be better than the print version?

Yes, because narrator was so good. His performance added so much.

What did you like best about this story?

    It was an original concept.

Which character – as performed by Luke Daniels – was your favorite?

    Conner

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

    Unwind, behave or else

    Any additional comments?

This story captivated me from word one. Normally I would not read YA or teen but this was so well done, so well written and thankfully ZERO teen romantic angst. It is a beautiful story and I am immediately on to book two!

Melanie is a very special girl. Dr Caldwell calls her "our little genius". Every morning, Melanie waits in her cell to be collected for class. When they come for her, Sergeant keeps his gun pointing at her while two of his people strap her into the wheelchair. She thinks they don't like her. She jokes that she won't bite, but they don't laugh. Melanie loves school. She loves learning about spelling and sums and the world outside the classroom and the children's cells. She tells her favorite teacher all the things she'll do when she grows up. Melanie doesn't know why this makes Miss Justineau look sad.

Would you consider the audio edition of The Girl with All the Gifts to be better than the print version?

The narrator did a most excellent job. She added so much feeling to the story and yet it was not a dramatization.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Melanie of course but Miss Justineau (the teacher) a close second.

Have you listened to any of Finty Williams’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No but I did look up her other stuff. I think she is one of the best female narrators I have listened to.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, it was one of the rare books that I did not want to end so I listened carefully and attentively.

    Any additional comments?

This book is so unique. Try not to read spoilers. The "virus" that is talked about is a fungus that I know of and it triples the creep out factor!
One of the most enjoyable listening experiences.

This is such a fun listen. It swept me up immediately and never put me down until the end of the story. I was So SAD to finish the book. You won't regret buying this series. I'm not sure why it says it is a teen book. It certainly is not~ perhaps the story would appeal to teens but it is fully suited for the adult reader.
I have purchased and listened to all 4 books.

An epidemic has killed off most humans, turning the rest into beasts with sharp nails, keen senses and an insatiable hunger. Now, years later, a solitary survivor hides in a trailer above a dead city. This is life with the door and windows taped shut, where survival comes down to two, simple rules: stay quiet, and protect the air.

    Story

I loved this book. The narration was different to be certain but it absolutely fit with the story- read in first person narrative, the main character was a child when she last was around others so her language and speech was very youthful even though years had passed. I found it to be perfectly suited for THIS story.
There have only been a handful of stories where I nearly grieved when they were over and this was one!
I am excited to locate this authors other works.
So so so sad it's over:(

With a career, a boyfriend, and a loving family, Piper Kerman barely resembles the reckless young woman who delivered a suitcase of drug money 10 years ago. But that past has caught up with her. Convicted and sentenced to 15 months at the infamous federal correctional facility in Danbury, Connecticut, the well-heeled Smith College alumna is now inmate #11187-424 - one of the millions of women who disappear "down the rabbit hole" of the American penal system.

I enjoyed this book so much.
The narration was OUTSTANDING! Among the very best narration I've ever listened to.
The story included so many interesting pieces- 1690's law, justice, medicine, prejudices, fears, fashion, housekeeping, cooking, city development... I really could feel the world back then!
At just over 30 hours, it's a bit of an undertaking but I loved it!
