After reading all the reviews my expectations were as high as could be for this book. That always means that I will be disappointed- but not this time. WHAT A STORY.

My only regret is that my young sons can't read it- because the language is...well let's say... what you would expect from a Navy Seal.

Awesome- get the book

I am not sure why but I keep coming back to this book. It may be any number of things that draw me: the humor, the Montana of the author's youth, the fly fishing (although I have never been), the authors way with words (although I am no literary critic). However, I think the answer is found in the relationships. How we never truly understand those we love most. How we see incredible beauty and major flaws in those same people. How we are granted a moment in time with them that seems perfect, and we treasure it, all the while knowing it cannot last. Maybe what brings me back to this book is that it encourages me to appreciate what is beautiful in others, forgive the flaws and treasure the moments that will not last.

This is my favorite book on one of my favorite subjects. These were great men and faith is the most important subject so what could be more interesting than finding out what the founding fathers believed? To know their faith will help when reading the founding documents and may be helpful to you in your personal faith. So what did Washington, Jefferson, Adams and Madison believe? Were they orthodox? We they unbelievers? Were they deists? If you read this book you will find out. I have read several other books on the subject but in my opinion this is the most enjoyable and the most accurate.

I am not a professional historian but I have read more than my fair share about the founders and their faith. This book is by far the most accurate. I finished this book and almost immediately started it again and there are not too many books that I can say that about.

A good biography. A very interesting man who was at the center of the Civil War. The only complaint that I had was when the author moved from writing biography to giving her view on the constitution. I wonder if she views her contract with her publisher a a "changing/evolving document"? I bet not.

Excellent book. This will be required reading (at least the chapters on Black Rednecks and Slavery) for my children when they are old enough. The Black Rednecks chapter changed the way I think. The Slavery chapter made me prouder than ever of our history as well as outraging me about the modern left and the anti American slant they take.
