Why we think it’s a great listen: The most celebrated performance in all of Audible’s history, The Help has nearly 2,000 5-star reviews from your fellow listeners. We hear the print book’s not bad, either. In pitch-perfect voices, Kathryn Stockett creates three extraordinary women whose determination to start a movement of their own forever changes a town, and the way women - mothers, daughters, caregivers, friends - view one another.

    "A really great listen."

You will be rooting for the characters in this book. This book provides a fascinating look at the social divide of 1960's Mississippi. The stories of the "Help" are sometimes sad, sometimes hopeful, and sometimes triumphant. The narrators made them come alive. This is one of the best books I've read in the last few years.

Jeanette Garland, missing Castleford, July 1969. Susan Ridyard, missing Rochdale, March 1972. Claire Kemplay, missing Morley, since yesterday. It’s winter, 1974, Yorkshire, Christmas bombs, Lord Lucan on the run, the Bay City Rollers, and Eddie Dunford’s got the job he wanted – crime correspondent for the Yorkshire Evening Post. He didn’t know it was going to be a season in hell. A dead little girl with a swan’s wings stitched into her back. A gypsy camp in a ring of fire. Corruption everywhere you look.

Lori says: "Disturbing, Uncomfortable - Real Crime Fiction"
"Creepy -- and not in a good way."
    Overall

This book was disturbingly violent, but I could look beyond that if I cared about the characters (I didn't) or if the plot was great (It wasn't). I love British crime fiction, so this was just a big disappointment. Oddly, the most interesting bit was the interview with the author at the end of the audio.

The action begins six days after a series of explosions devastated Washington, D.C., targeting the National Counterterrorism Center and killing 185 people, including public officials and CIA employees. It was a bizarre act of extreme violence that called for extreme measures on the part of elite counterterrorism operative Mitch Rapp and his trusted team member, Mike Nash.

Jason J Preston says: "Another Outstandung Vince Flynn Book"
    "Not a Creditworthy Pick"
    Overall

I have read and enjoyed all of Vince Flynn's previous books, and was extremely disappointed to find this offering had very little plot, and turned previously interesting characters into irritating and unlikeable caricatures. The entire book was about justifying torture and vigilante "justice". Pursuit of Honor? Not in my book. I think I've listened to my last Vince Flynn novel.
