"This is the abridged version!"
This is the abridged version! It's only about 1/3 of the total book. Before you buy it... double check that you want abridged... and not unabridged!
"Disappointing and slow! Couldn't finish listening"
I loved the first book, Dune. Great story. I tried my best to listent to this part 2 book, Dune Messiah. Got half way through and stopped. It didn't hold my interest. I listen to books while I drive, and this book was putting me to sleep!
I highly recommend Dune
I can't recommend Dune Messiah.
"Blood & guts Rambo-style book was engaging"
This genre isn't my style. But, if you like action stories with a strong character / hero that is cartoon-like in his invicible tough-guy character .... then this story is worth listening to.
The book is a well told and engaging 'blood & guts' rambo style action story. It wasn't what I was expecting... but once I started listening, the story moved along. Some parts were a bit cliche... and the ending predictable. But, it passed the time while I drove to work and home. Good narration with good voice changes.
"Interesting story - well read"
Wouldn't listen again... one time is enough. Good story, worth listening to, but hardly a 'classic' worth listening to you again and again
Well written - engaging
Scott Brick is a terrific narrator. Easy voice to listen to. Well done. (Listen to

"Terrific Story - well done -- worth listening to"
It's been 20+ years since I read the book.... really enjoyed hearing the story again. Well read. Good story that engaged me completely.
Good story.
One negative: It seems that the partucular actor reading the part of each character seemed to change from time to time. I'm not sure why, but the voice behind a particular character would change as the story went on. It was still easy enough to follow... but this was a bit annoying. Scott Brick is my favorite narrator.
"Entertaining -- like a decent "made for TV movie""
The audio book was entertaining and engaging. It kept my interest -- and I never felt like it was time to turn it off. But, the story was a bit of a cliche -- and unbelievable at times. In summary... it was a like watching a decent "made for TV movie of the week". Entertaining.. but not literary. Narrator did a fine job.
"Entertaining - Great for Kids & Adults too"
Although book targeted at kids... it was engaging & thought provoking for me too.
"Engaging, well written, worth listening to"
Enjoyed this Ken Follett book very much. Worth listening to. If you liked Pillars of the Earth and World Without End... then you will like this book too.
"Good Book - different style of performance"
The story is well written and engaging. Enjoyed listening to it. But... it's a bit different than other audble books in that this is done more like an old-time radio show. There are multiple actors reading the dialogue for the chacaters. It took a little getting used to... but worked well.
"OMG this book moves slowly!"
I really liked Presumed Innocent & Innocent by Scott Turow. So, I was surprised by how incredibly slow this book moves. Hardly a page turner... Instead I can barely listen to more than 30 minutes before needing to turn it off. Finally stopped listening 1/2 way through the second part.
Too much character analysis, background, and thoughts for me. Not enough action.
I reccomend to read Presumed Innocent & Innocent. Leave this one on the shelf.
"A bit slow...tough to listen to the narrator"
I really enjoyed Robert Littell's THE COMPANY... so I thought I would try this book. Not a bad story... but seemed to drag on too slowly. Also, I found the narrator's voice a bit tough to listen to. If you haven't already... listen to THE COMPANY over this book.
