"Yawn worthy not swoon worthy"
I was excited to read this book due to the star rating. Boy was I bamboozled. The story builds up to make him look like a member of a freaky sex club and she a former victum of a horrific sexually abusive relationship. The story was long winded and drawn out. It really didnt have much of a plot. I thought that Gabriel was a pompus jerk and Julianne was a prudish fridged twit. Thinking about it they were perfect for each other. I like men who are swoon worthy and strong who make a wonan feel cherished adored but take charge and be a man. He didnt fit that bill. Listening to the story line and the way it was built up I thought her past lover really did a number on her but when she told her story all he did was cheat on her and they were not even in a serious relationship (holding hands, political dinners and long distance love letters). The worst he did was sing the Nine Inch Nails song "Animal" to her. Later her past lover out of the blue, storms into her dads house at one point of the book and attacks her. There was no telling of violence in their past and made me think I skipped a part of the book. It made no sense to me but I will tell you that was probably the most exciting part of the book. When Gabriel and Julianne finally do the "deed" (which is the last hour of the book by the way)he damn near wrapped her in bubble wrap before sex.
This book is one big build of nothing with no climax and no big "O". I will NOT waste my credit on the next book. If you think this is anything like FSOG ...tortured souls yes....hot romance.....its not.
"Well Done Mr. Hill"
NOS4A2 is a fantastical wild ride of multi-dimensional fear and horror. If you are a fan of Joe Hill he will not disappoint. The main character Vic takes you on a journey through her life of what is real and unreal and what you shouldn't believe. The characters are so creepy that you will find yourself slightly paranoid looking over your shoulders and wishing you had a third eye to keep on your kids. Don't expect flowery endings and super hero characters. Every character is gritty and real. I found the extra bonus at then end of the book where Joe Hill explains the development of NOS4A2 and insight into his life growing up in the home (of what I thought would be amazing) of 2 amazing novelists. Joe Hill and NOS4A2 earned all 5 stars from me. For as twisted as this story is I am sure you made your parents proud Mr. Hill.
"Panty Ripping Good Time"
I picked up this book on the recommendation from people that I follow on the Audible site. I am glad I downloaded it. It is a unexpected sexual romp that develops between two people who are very driven get on each others nerves and know they shouldnt cross that line when it comes to inter office romance. It is a fun love/hate relationship with a lot of confusion when it comes to feelings, careers, and the struggle of what's right and wrong. When it comes down to that animal urge they just say "F-it" and let it fly. I like how you hear from each characters point of view. I always want to know what the guy is thinking. Lots of humor which I like and very likeable people. It is worth the credit and I will look for this author in the future.
"Was there something in the water?"
Many plot twists and turns in this story. Sitting here thinking about the book makes me believe that there was something in the water to make the residence of Bryan's Town nutty. I love a book that makes you be your own detective trying to solve the murder. This book was no exception. Broken Harbor makes you appreciate the detail that goes into an investigation to solve the mystery but also the human aspect of doing the job right and not allowing your own personal demons alter the outcomes.
One thing that irks me with all of her books is the way she writes a story about the detective within a story but you never solve the mystery of the detective's background. I guess that is her writers M.O.
The narration by Stephen Hogan was very well done. I enjoyed the Irish lilt and common everyday lingo. The distinction between all characters were very well played.
Overall I will always be a Tana French fan always wanting just a little bit more about the detective.
"What happened to Odd?"
I was looking forward to this next book in the series and I gotta say it was such a let down. I listened to the entire book gave it a week to settle in before I gave my review and here I am. It seems to me that Dean had switched up his abilities but I find myself a bit confused. The one thing that did stick out for me was his conflict with having the ability to see Stormy again but passing on his baser instinct for self happiness. I am an Odd Thomas fan but I am a little concerned where this is going.
"Stripper Gone Good Sweet Romance"
The banter between the characters. The love scenes were hot but funny.
Molly Harper books. Not the same type of story line but the same type of character development with humor and great love scenes.
I laughed out loud when she walked in on her mom having sex with her boyfriend.
I just enjoyed the whole story and how it developed. There were parts where I laughed out loud. I also loved how the whole team started to accept her as one of the members of the team.
I will be downloading more books from this author. Hope they are all as good as this one. I looked up the authors bio and found that this is a book series. Audible please get the rest. I want to read more.
"Kicking myself for buying this CRAP!!"
Seriously!!
The book starts with a disclaimer that it is an adult book with all the warning bells and whistles of keeping it away from minors. I was intrigued. When I was done I wanted to inform everyone the warning should be how this book is so awful, narration was just the worst and the story was so poorly written that I think a minor wrote it. I would like to leave no stars for this one just to get my point across. Don't even consider this trash when browsing for a hot romance.
"Move over Christian...Helloooooooooo Gideon!!"
Though there are many similarities between FSOG and this book, Sylvia Day knows how to spin a tale and has the editors to prove it. Ladies and gentlemen not one "OH MY" in the entire book. Both characters have their own baggage of past monsters they need to deal with and the story keeps you glued to the book to uncover their secrets. I literally couldn't put the I-pod down. While I was interested in FSOG I was in a trance with this book. I felt like a voyeur watching the weave of these to lives bind and build. I love strong male characters. I often thought "how would I react if a man like Gideon talked to me like that?" My normal response to any man with that rap would be me telling him to go pound sand, however with Gideon I would have lost my ever lovin mind as Eva did.
Jill Redfield did an excellent job at narration. Audible DO NOT CHANGE NARRATORS!!
I look forward to the next in the Crossfire series. Again.....Audible sign what ever contracts, pay off your people, do what you need to do to get the second book available on release day.
"Excited about the new series"
I am a huge fan of Ms. Frost's work. Her writing never gets old or repeats itself. I was wishing I put off this book until she produced a few so I can go immediately into the next book. I however cannot resist. Tavia is a wonderful narrator and can deliver a story to perfection. I have to admit I got a little giddy when Bones and Cat made a small cameo but I wish that they had more time in the book but I guess this is Vlad's story and not theirs.
I loved the story line between the two characters and how the female characters are always strong confident women who drive to take a challenge on and don't feel they need to be the damsel in distress. All of her books deserve 5 stars
"For a good laugh listen to this series!!"
I will always be a fan of this author. I love her humor and found myself laughing out loud at the most inappropriate times. Amanda did an amazing job of narrating the story. I love all vampire stories and this one is at the top of my list of all time fave's. It is a unique spin one the subject matter. I would see myself having the same dumb luck as the main character if vampires were real. Enjoy!!
