I enjoy long listens with a good story line and a serial is even more inviting. I gave this a try for an hour or so and was lost. Not for the Sci-Fi light weight. I don't think the problem is with the author, I completely blame myself for not doing a pre listen.
I found this book by looking at all of Will Patton's narrations. He elevates everything he reads. I'm downloading the rest of the series, I can't wait to "see" the conclusion.
I read this many years ago, back when it was an assignment, enjoyed it then. We've all seen the movie adaptions. Ever wonder how they squeeze 40 or so hours of reading down to 100 minutes of visual? This is a wonderful listen. The reader captures each character perfectly and even though I know the outcome, the journey is fantastic!
I have never written a review even though I listen to 1-2 books a month during my daily drive time. I am not particularly religious but I found myself loving this book. The story of Christianity is not a new one but the way the author opens our eyes to the "strange events of the death of a Jewish carpenter" is fresh, enjoyable and compelling. It is the story of a Roman Tribune, tasked with the crucifixion, he becomes deeply depressed then slowly enlightened as he skeptically researches Jesus' story first hand.
I purchased this book for my son. He's 7, and not ready for the book, but I was. Very enjoyable fantasy. I especially enjoyed the cast of characters/readers.
